Offspring from a mother-son mating would, therefore, have a 25% chance of inheriting two bad copies of the mutations that have been passed down to the son. This is a greater than 100-fold risk compared to an outbred dog! Inbreeding in dogs has real consequences.
Other negative effects of inbreeding documented include decreased immune system function, decreased viability, decreased reproductive ability and the loss of genetic diversity (i.e. decrease in genetic variation). Collectively, these adverse effects of inbreeding are known as inbreeding depression.
Severe separation anxiety, impulsive behaviors (compulsively chasing vehicles or running out into the street), fearfulness, and even a complete lack of affection for their human family are all more common in inbred dogs.

It is also fair to conclude that most adult male dogs understand that these are puppies and not fully grown dogs, so many will treat these puppies with much more care and patience. However, there is no direct proof that a male dog will recognize his own puppies.
Dogs hump for three main reasons: to get attention, in play and in response to stress and anxiety. Your dog may be seeking attention from your mother, he may be excited that she's visiting (if she doesn't live there) or she may have never let him know that it's not acceptable behavior.
