Moaning Myrtle
Born in the late 1920s to Muggle parents, Myrtle Warren started her Hogwarts life in the early 1940s, where she was sorted into Ravenclaw. She had no friends, and was bullied relentlessly because of her glasses and acne.
The Ministry saw the Order as a renegade outfit — ministers were still cagey about Dumbledore possibly wanting their job — so it wouldn't be possible for McGonagall to work for both the Ministry and the Order. McGonagall didn't join the Order of the Phoenix at first because she was spying for the Ministry of Magic.
She was sorted into Slytherin House at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and hated her time at the school due to never being given any positions of power. After her time at Hogwarts, Umbridge rose to prominent and influential positions in the Ministry of Magic in the Improper Use of Magic Office.
At Hogwarts, she, along with her sisters, was sorted into Slytherin. It is suggested in the novels that, as a student, Bellatrix associated with a group of students – including Rodolphus Lestrange, Severus Snape, Avery, Evan Rosier and Wilkes – who nearly all became Death Eaters.
Barty eventually began attending Hogwarts, where he was sorted into Ravenclaw.
Sirius bucked the trend in the Black family by being sorted into Gryffindor as opposed to Slytherin, like the rest of his family.
Merlin himself was sorted into Slytherin when he was at Hogwarts, and the young wizard went on to become one of the most famous wizards in history. The Order of Merlin, named to commemorate him, has been awarded since the fifteenth century.
Serving the Malfoy family
Dobby was the resident house-elf of Malfoy Manor, serving Lucius Malfoy, his wife Narcissa, and their only son Draco. They treated Dobby with unkindness and cruelty, often reminding him to perform extra punishments on himself when he did something disagreeable to them.
McGonagall followed up Harry's action by using the Imperius Curse on Amycus before tying him up with a net, rendering him useless during the Battle of Hogwarts.
After the Second Wizarding War, Neville Longbottom was known to have taken over the job as Head of Gryffindor.
No, McGonagall wasn't Filch's mom. She never had a child. Filch belonged to a completely different wizarding family and was a squib.
Hogwarts Years
Rita was sorted into Ravenclaw house during her school years.
Lily attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry from 1971-1978. She was Sorted into Gryffindor House and was a member of the Slug Club.
Any Hogwarts house would have been lucky to count Luna Lovegood amongst its numbers, but with apologies to Gryffindor, Slytherin and Huffepuff – we reckon the Sorting Hat got it right with Ravenclaw!
Ginny is a pureblood witch born 11 August 1981, the seventh child and only daughter of Arthur and Molly Weasley. She attends Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and is sorted into Gryffindor house, along with the rest of her family.
Grindelwald is mentioned by Ron Weasley, who erroneously states he was sorted into Slytherin House at Hogwarts.
Newt Scamander is arguably the most accomplished and famous Hufflepuff House graduate. Despite the fact that Scamander was expelled from Hogwarts, he went on to become one of the most well-respected Magizoologists of all time.
But what makes him a Gryffindor? Funnily enough, Harry Potter himself provides us with an answer. It's possible to influence the Sorting Hat with your own wishes and desires. This is the key reason Peter Pettigrew became a Gryffindor.
Unlike Dobby, the kind-hearted, heroic house elf from Harry Potter who made us all weep when he tragically died on a beach in Harry's arms, there was another elf who was less loveable. Kreacher belonged to Sirius Black and he hated everyone except for pure-blood wizards.
Sorted in Slytherin House at Hogwarts, Fudge later married Amaryllis Fudge and pursued a career at the British Ministry of Magic. After working as a Junior Minister in the D.M.A.C., Fudge was (to his own surprise) elected Minister for Magic in 1990.
Peter Pettigrew, (a.k.a. Wormtail), is the only Death Eater known to have been in a House other than Slytherin (Gryffindor) while at Hogwarts. There, he was a close friend of Sirius Black, James Potter, and Remus Lupin, although he was the least intelligent and least talented of the group.
Barty apparently Charmed the Goblet of Fire such that it acted as though there were four schools competing in the Triwizard Tournament, rather than three; he then placed Harry's name in the Goblet as the sole competitor in this fourth school, thus forcing the Goblet to select Harry as a Champion.
