The Foxtel iQ5 box price is significantly more than the iQ4, but these key differences make the iQ5 upgrade worth it. The iQ5 box has internet streaming services with far more content than the iQ4 (you need an ethernet cable for iQ4 connection).
The iQ4 is similar to the iQ3 in how it functions – but with more features and a faster and more seamless viewing experience. The box itself will connect to your home broadband, as well as your Foxtel cables and TV, to deliver content from the Internet and satellite.
You can find your smartcard or serial number on any of your boxes. Your smartcard number is located on a sticker on the bottom of your iQ5/iQ4 box in the Smartcard No: section.
Do you need a box for Foxtel Now? Foxtel Now can work on a variety of compatible devices (see above). You don't need a set-top-box. The Foxtel Now box is a great way to watch your favourite shows on the big screen.

Can I use the Foxtel Now box without an active Foxtel Now subscription? You don't need an active subscription to use the Foxtel Now box, just a Foxtel Now login. However, to get the most out of your Foxtel Now box we recommend subscribing to Foxtel Now, available from $25 per month.
The iQ5 and iQ4 can operate in two different modes, depending on what service is available at your home. It can be connected to an existing satellite service, where a dish is already installed and working, or connected to stream Foxtel content in internet-only mode.
Some free-to-air TV apps are available on internet-connected iQ5, iQ4 or iQ3s. For more information and to see which apps are available, see Using apps on Foxtel boxes.
Yes. If you already have a Netflix subscription and sign up to a Foxtel bundle that includes Netflix, simply log in to the Netflix app on your iQ5, iQ4 or iQ3 and follow the prompts to link your Netflix subscription to your Foxtel bundle.
Whether it's recording a late-night game to watch in the morning, or to record every episode of your favourite series, there's loads of storage space on your iQ4. Record up to three Foxtel shows at a time whilst also watching live TV. You can automatically record every game of your favourite team with 'Team Link'.
Even if you don't have a 4K TV — at least, not yet — the iQ4 is still very much a worthwhile upgrade if you've ever found yourself frustrated by the slowness of the iQ3 menu system or its other assorted quirks.

By connecting your box to the internet, you'll unlock hours of entertainment included in your package to enjoy anytime. If your box is connected to the internet, you can stream or download your favourite TV shows, movies or sporting events in your package to watch whenever you like.
You can order your iQ4 Foxtel upgrade on the Foxtel website – just log in to your account and click on the Upgrade link under “Change my package”. If you're self-installing, your new iQ4 will be express-delivered, and you'll be sent instructions on how to return your old box to Foxtel at no cost to you.
In terms of pricing, the cost of Foxtel Now will depend on which channel packs you choose. While the 'Essentials' Pack is the cheapest plan option at $25 per month, the content available is limited.
What is Multiscreen? Multiscreen lets you watch Foxtel in another room by either: casting the Foxtel Go app to your TV using Google Chromecast or Apple AirPlay or. using the Foxtel app on eligible Smart TVs or PlayStation 4.
The Foxtel iQ4 is only compatible with equipment (TV's and A/V receivers) which have HDMI 2.0 ports (HDCP2. 2).

Returning an iQ2 or older box? If you have an iQ2 or older box, you don't need to return it to us. You can hold on to your box in case you choose to reconnect Foxtel at a later date, or you can dispose of it thoughtfully at a local e-waste facility.
