In Balkan folklore, a dhampir (Albanian pronunciation: [ðamˈpir]) is a mythical creature that is the result of a union between a vampire and a human. This union was usually between male vampires and female humans, with stories of female vampires mating with male humans being rare.
They can be as powerful as, if not, more powerful than vampires, so they have to train very hard to increase their powers. A dhampirs powers is not accessed until there 18 some grow up not knowing what they are.
A human-vampire hybrid, also known as half-vampire, vampire hybrid, half-human and half-vampire, and half-immortal, is the offspring of a female human and a male vampire. It is generally beyond the ability of most vampires to be this close to a human physically and still resist the lure of her blood.
While dhampirs possess the same amount of vampire blood as that of converts and Purebloods, their blood is not strong enough to convert others. Because the vampire blood that they are born with is never released into their bodies, it will never kill them nor bring them back as in the case of converts and Purebloods.
Type One vampires are the rarest and most powerful type of vampires. They are human-like in appearance but have two fangs and sometimes, their eyes glow. They possess great strength and speed, an incredibly long lifespan and the ability to hypnotize their victims with their eyes.
Reproduction. Dhampir and a Moroi can reproduce, with the offspring always being Dhampir. Dhampirs cannot reproduce with humans.
Dhampir Hungers
By far the most common dark craving of choice is blood, but it can be anything really. It could be simply raw flesh, maybe something as intangible as psychic energy, but in general it's got to be something you drain out of people and usually not in a nice way.
Because of the unique circumstances surrounding the birth of dhampirs, they are exceedingly rare. Dhampirs are feared by humans and hated by vampires, and are so rare that they seldom even encounter each other. As such, they are one of the loneliest supernatural creatures that exist.
Vampire Creation is the process during which a vampire turns a human being into a vampire. On the HBO original series True Blood, a vampire who turns a human into a vampire is known as a Maker, and the newly turned vampire is known as the Maker's Progeny.
While Dhampirs do possess many great powers and are still considered half-vampire, they cannot create vampires on their own. Dhampirs can produce children. There is a 50% chance that those babies will become dhampirs and a 50% chance they will be regular humans.
A dhampir is unable to turn a human into another dhampir, due to them not possessing the proper amount of power to be able to complete the transformation process.
Powers/Abilities
Superhuman Speed: Dhampirs can run at far greater speeds and distances than a normal human. They also have fast reflexes, being able to dodge and block with ease. Superhuman Durability: Dhampirs can withstand high impact forces and injuries that would normally cripple a normal human.
The five types of vampires mentioned in Day Shift are Southern, Eastern, Uber, Spider, and Juvenile. They can be identified by their fangs, with the fangs of older, powerful vampires being very valuable. Juvenile vampires are also called zombie vamps and are formed when a young vampire turns a human.
There are three types of real vampires: sanguinarian, psychic, and hybrids. Sanguinarians feed on very small amounts of human blood, generally just a few drops.
vampiress (plural vampiresses) A female vampire.
Appearance. A dhampir had not only the same normal appearance as their parents does, but their vampire form has pale skin (options are white or gray), red eyes, high cheekbones, fangs, pointy ears and claws. They wear darker clothing and makeup to make them look goth.
Your dhampir character has several distinctive traits gained from your vampiric ancestry. Age. Dhampir mature as humans do, but have extremely long lifespans due to their undead heritage, living upwards to a thousand years.
If the dhampir is bitten but not killed, nothing happens (same with all the other beings in the books) but if they are killed by being drained, they can be resurrected into an evil vampire the same as any other being in the books.
The Dhampir are half-human, half-vampires who are born to protect the Moroi. This race does not have elemental magic but does have enhanced strength and senses making them the strongest protection against the Strigoi. Unlike the Moroi, they can survive without blood and can freely enjoy the sunshine.
You don't need to breath or use light or walk on floors (or even walls, once you reach level 3). But the Dhampir's signature trait is their bite, which carries a lot of complexity on its own (see below, under Vampiric Bite).
Unlike true vampires, Dhampir are not undead. Sunlight does not burn their skin, and holy magic has no additional effect on them. However, their internal body temperature is much lower than that of other 'warm blooded' creatures, being only about 14 degrees Celsius.
Dhampirs can subsist off food and go days without satiating their bloodlust with proper self-control. Each day they go without drinking blood, they must make a Wisdom saving throw to maintain their self-control, and the DC rises with each day they go without feeding on blood.
A Dhampir cannot reproduce through another Dhampir or even a human, thus a Dhampir relationship with another Dhampir cannot create another Dhampir as a female Dhampir cannot reproduce. This also occurs with humans, as a Dhampir cannot have children with a human due to them also being able to procreate.
No, they cannot as their egg cells are frozen and can't be fertilized by a sperm cell. Of course then you'll have the question "How did Edward impregnate Bella?" and for that I suggest you look up Smeyer's website, she's got the answer on there.
