A male cat is called a tom or tomcat (or a gib, if neutered). A female is called a queen (or a molly, if spayed), especially in a cat-breeding context. A juvenile cat is referred to as a kitten. In Early Modern English, the word kitten was interchangeable with the now-obsolete word catling.
Female Cat Name FAQs
As stated above, a neutered female cat is called a molly. There is no difference, as with some animal terms, as to whether she's been de-sexed or not. However, a spayed female cat will never be a Queen as she will not have kittens.
Molly: Another name for a she-cat. Monster: A vehicle operated by humans. Often described when cats are near Twolegs/the Thunderpath. Motorboats are sometimes referred to as "water-monsters."
There are mixed opinions about where the term “molly” came for a female cat. Some people believe we have yet to determine where the term came from. However, others believe that the term came from the word “mollita,” which comes from the Latin term for softness or weakness.
A queen is a cat that is expecting or has recently given birth to a litter of kits. Though known to be overly-protective of kits, queens usually are compassionate and kind, and in many cases they have been known to convince their mates or Clan leaders to take in cats in need of help.
The short answer is no, probably not. However, there are some exceptions to this. Sexual activity in sterilized cats could be related to a health issue. In addition, some cats display behaviors that are misinterpreted as sexual in nature when they are actually behavioral problems, or even normal cat behaviors.
Generally, spaying or neutering your pet will not change its personality. If there are any effects on behaviour, they tend to be positive (reducing unwanted behaviour). Spaying or neutering will not change your pet's affection level or playfulness. For females, there is typically no change at all.
Roaming and sexual attraction
Castration reduces roaming in approximately 90% of cases. Although neutering greatly reduces sexual interest, some experienced males may continue to be attracted to, and mate with females.
When a cat is pregnant, they are typically referred to as a “queen.” Usually a queen's behavior will not greatly change during pregnancy, but some cats may become either more affectionate or aggressive. Eventually, the cat's abdomen may look rounder or her nipples may become more prominent.
2 - "Queen" When a cat is pregnant or nursing or a breeding cat, it is called a Queen. This is meant to reflect the cat's importance, as well as its protective nature. So, a Molly becomes a Queen as soon as it gets pregnant and you should keep calling it a queen when it is nursing its kittens and raising them.
According to the American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP) Senior Care Guidelines, older cats are classified as mature or middle-aged at 7 to 10 years old, as senior cats at 11 to 14 years old, and geriatric from 15 to 25 years old.
When a cat is castrated, the testicles are removed but the scrotum (ball sack) isn't. This means sometimes they look like they still have testicles after their operation. Over time the scrotum will shrink and become less noticeable.
In some instances, yes, a neutered cat will still retain sexual urges and try to mate. If a male cat is neutered later in life, he'll still have testosterone in his system that can induce sexual activity. It may take weeks or several months for the testosterone to leave the body.
Humping Behavior in Neutered Male Cats
However, both males and females can demonstrate humping, even if they have been neutered or spayed. Humping isn't necessarily something to worry about, as it is a natural behavior. However, it can also be a sign that your kitty is bored, stressed, or frustrated.
“It's unlikely they experience the deep sensation of 'falling in love' in the same way humans do. But they can certainly feel a very strong attachment or bond,” Buis told The Dodo. The ideas of “falling in love” and romantic love are human concepts.
Spaying makes for a calmer cat. Without the drive to mate, your cat may be quieter and won't be prone to cat calls and the incessant need to seek out a mate. The spayed pet no longer attracts males and their annoying advances and serenades. Spayed cats are also easier to get along with.
Myth: Spay or neuter surgery is painful and can harm my dog or cat. Truth: During a spay or neuter surgery, dogs and cats are fully anesthetized, so they feel no pain. Afterward, some animals may experience some discomfort. With pain management medication, pain may not be experienced at all.
Neutered male cats hump other cats (and even inanimate objects) because of UTIs, stress, and a variety of other health and behavioral reasons. This can result in stress for both you and the second cat, as the second cat may not want to be stalked and mounted.
Taking a mate
Clan cats usually take a mate from the same Clan, although there are examples of pairings from different Clans or groups. However, sometimes cats from different Clans will mate secretly despite it being against the warrior code.
The Moonstone is a giant quartz rock near Highstone's, located in the Forest Territory. It is positioned in a cave called Mothermouth near Windclan territory. Medicine cats from all four clan's typically travel to the Moonstone every half month to share tongues with StarClan.
Twoleg – A human, but some other cats like kittypets or Purdy (A former kittypet who became a loner who later on joined ThunderClan) call humans housefolk or upwalkers. Twoleg Kit– A human child. Twoleg Nest – A human's house. Twolegplace – A town, city, or village where Twolegs live.
Remember, it is never too late to neuter a cat and, even if it has been left a few years, this does not mean the operation cannot be performed. Even in later life, neutering a cat still provides many benefits and is usually the best option.
But the age of desexing needs to be brought forward from six months to four months to close a "pregnancy gap" and prevent unwanted litters of kittens.
Early-age desexing (EAD), or prepubertal desexing, is performed when kittens reach 1 kg body weight, which is usually by 4 months old. In contrast, the traditional age for desexing is 6 months16,17.
