Sea Demon, also knows as the Dark Ones, are enormous blue sea creatures. They are territorial but not predators. When preparing to attack, the sea demon's body begins to heat up and glow a burning red. Water boils around them when they grow hot in attack.
The word Leviathan has come to refer to any sea monster, and from the early 17th century has also been used to refer to overwhelmingly powerful people or things (comparable to Behemoth, also a biblical term), influentially so by Hobbes' book (1651).
Because of this creature's massive size and underwater dwelling, the name Leviathan is actually used a general term for describing large sea monsters. More than likely due to its very old origins, the Leviathan is pretty much the root of most sea creature myths.
