Tomatoes are the most popular vegetables in the world. The world produces 177.04 metric tonnes of tomatoes every year.
Spring vegetables include artichoke, asparagus, bean shoots, beetroot, broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, cucumber, leek, lettuce, mushrooms, peas, rhubarb, and spinach; summer vegetables include capsicum, cucumber, eggplant, squash, tomato, and zucchini.
Potatoes are by far the biggest vegetable commodity grown in Australia by volume, with over 1.3 million tonnes of potatoes grown for human consumption and processing in 2016-17.

In North American and Australian English, eggplant is a common name.
Australia's main agricultural products are very contrasting crops: sugar cane (typical of tropical countries), wheat and barley (typical of cold countries).

Vegemite on toast
Happy little vegemites enjoy it for breakfast, lunch and tea, so goes the much-played anthem. This is as Australian food as it gets. Although it looks like Britain's Marmite, locals will tell you Vegemite is very different. And substantially better, more savory than sweet.

The total volume of oranges produced in Australia in fiscal year 2022 was nearly 501 thousand metric tons. In terms of weight, bananas were the second most produced fruit in the country, accounting for around 374 thousand metric tons.
Around 72% of agricultural production is exported
Wheat and beef, which are large sectors, are more export-focused than dairy, horticulture and pork (Figure 7). In real terms the value of agricultural exports has fluctuated between $41 billion and $71 billion since 2002–03 (Figure 8).
