A decline code is typically a two-digit, alphanumeric error code that indicates why a card transaction has been declined. While the code can originate from a number of sources, it often comes from the issuing bank, payment processor, or credit networks. Businesses won't always see the exact code.
You can receive this error for the following reasons: Account information is incomplete or incorrect at the processor. The card type being used isn't set up with the processor. Your merchant bank has blocked your account.
Reason Code 200 indicates a mismatch reported by Address Verification Service. The billing address provided by the customer does not match the cardholder address on file with the issuing bank. Reason Code 200 occurs only when both the street address (house number only) and Postal Code do not match the values on file.

Merchants who receive a chargeback for a transaction placed with a Visa card may encounter reason code 30, which indicates a disputed transaction that the cardholder does not believe they should be responsible for paying. The actual underlying cause of this chargeback may either be friendly fraud or merchant error.

Also known as the "invalid transaction" code, a credit card error code 12 is given when the issuing bank does not accept a transaction. That's super vague, but it's true. The issuing bank is the bank that gave the customer their card, and a declined 12 code is sort of a catch-all for error codes.
A reason code is a predefined set of categories or codes used to classify and track the reasons why certain events or transactions occur in a business. These codes are used to identify and understand the underlying causes of business processes, events, or outcomes.
Your card may be declined for a number of reasons: the card has expired; you're over your credit limit; the card issuer sees suspicious activity that could be a sign of fraud; or a hotel, rental car company, or other business placed a block (or hold) on your card for its estimated total of your bill.
You may also get a 300 decline reason code if you try to process a duplicate transaction (the same $ amount to the same card in a short period of time). In this case, you should contact your gateway.
There are a number of issues that could result in a debit card decline. For starters, you could be mistaken about your balance, or you may have reached your daily limit for withdrawals. The bank may feel the transaction is suspicious, based on your purchase history. Technical issues may also be to blame.

Visa chargeback reason code 82 falls under the “Point-of-Interaction Error” category. The shorthand description is “Duplicate Processing.” This reason code means that the cardholder is claiming that a single transaction was processed more than once and resulted in duplicate charges to their account.
The CVV2 (Card Verification Value 2) is a 3-digit security code that is printed on the back of your card, at the end of the signature panel. CVV2 is generally used for transactions when the card is not physically presented, such as in online purchases.
