The fear of Allah (subḥānahū wa taʿālā) is not an irrational fear. It is a fear built on knowledge. The more you get to know Him, the more you fear Him. You are in constant awe of His majesty, greatness and power.
Fear of Allah means that a believer who loves Allah, who is genuinely devoted to Him and takes Him as his friend, will never behave in a way of which He will disapprove and strictly avoid any behavior with which Allah would not be pleased.
The Arabic word taqwa means "forbearance, fear and abstinence." Some descriptions of the term from Islamic sources include: "God consciousness ... piousness, fear of Allah, love for Allah, and self restraint". "God-consciousness or God-fearing piety", "virtue", "wariness".
Do not fear them; fear Me, if you truly believe. It is only the devil who would make (men) fear his partisans. Fear them not; fear Me, if ye are true believers. It is only the Evil One that suggests to you the fear of his votaries: Be ye not afraid of them, but fear Me, if ye have Faith.
Fear Allah, do not fear the people. Stand up for what you believe and know that people will always have their own opinion but what matters is, is Allah pleased with us? The Almighty will make everything fear whoever fears Him, and He will make whoever fears people fear everything.
Taqwa is an Arabic word which is explained as a shield against wrongdoing and further expounded as to be “conscious of Allah” or to have “fear of Allah” or to be “cautiously aware of Allah”.
Allah says: And go down from it, all of you. And when my guidance comes to you,and whoever follows my guidance, they will have no fear, nor will they grieve. Surah Al Baqarah, Verse 38.
Ayah al-An`am (Cattle, Livestock) 6:112. Thus, We assigned evil humans and evil jinn as enemies to every prophet. They whisper enticing words to one another in order to deceive. But they cannot do this unless your Lord had so willed.
The bravest man is the one who fears Allah the most - he who fears Allah fears none besides Him.
Ayat al-Kursi is regarded as the greatest verse of Quran according to the hadith. The verse is regarded as one of the most powerful in the Quran because when it is recited, the greatness of God is believed to be confirmed.
It is from amongst the best provisions for a believer, benefiting him in this world, easing his affairs for him, protecting him from Shaytaan, causing him to enjoy high station in the world, as well as east and good tidings at the time of death.
HE IS CHARACTERIZED BY SHYNESS (HAYA'): The true Muslim has the characteristic of shyness (haya'), following the example of the Prophet (SallAllahu Alayhi Wa Sallam). The great Saahbi Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (RadiyAllahu Anhu) said: “The Messenger of Allah was more shy than the virgin hiding away in her own room.
The Prophet (ﷺ) used to invoke Allah at the time of distress, saying, "La ilaha illal- lahu Al-`Azim, al- Halim, La ilaha illal-lahu Rabbu-s-samawati wal-ard wa Rabbu- l-arsh il-azim."
Ithm is also associated with what is considered the worst sin of all, shirk. Shirk signifies associating partners with God. The Quran states that: He who associates with God has surely forged a great sin (ithm).
According to Erik Ohlander, in Quranic Arabic, taqwa refers to fear of God in terms of protecting oneself from displeasing God.
Abu 'Iyas reported: Abdullah ibn Mas'ud, may Allah be pleased with him, would say in his sermons, “The best provision is mindfulness of Allah (al-taqwa), and the foundation of wisdom is the fear of Allah Almighty.”
Surah Ad-Duha was revealed to the Prophet (ﷺ) to provide relief and hope. It was a way to reassure the Prophet (ﷺ) that Allah had not abandoned him. What is this? Through this Surah, we too can find relief from anxiety and sorrow.
What comes to you of good is from Allah , but what comes to you of evil, [O man], is from yourself. And We have sent you, [O Muhammad], to the people as a messenger, and sufficient is Allah as Witness.
(17:13) We have fastened every man's omen to his neck. On the Day of Resurrection We shall produce for him his scroll in the shape of a wide open book, (saying): 14. “We have fastened his fate to his neck”: therefore one does not need to take omens from a bird.
(24:13) Why did they not bring four witnesses in support of their accusation? Now that they have brought no witnesses, it is indeed they who are liars in the sight of Allah.
Overcome Fear God's Way: Pray
The Bible instructs us to “[not] worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done” (Philippians 4:6, NLT). Not only are we taught to not worry or fear, but we are also told what to do instead of worrying: pray.
Some surahs of the Holy Quran are valuable reading during depression and anxiety, as their meanings and messages can help alleviate depression, inshaa Allah. Surah Duha, Surah 93, ma sha Allah. Allah subhana wa ta'ala revealed it at a time when our Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam was depressed, to soothe him.
