A covenant is a sacred agreement between God and His children. God sets specific conditions, and He promises to bless us as we obey these conditions. Making and keeping covenants qualifies us to receive the blessings God has promised. When we choose not to keep covenants, we cannot receive the blessings.
This new covenant is to be everlasting. God will write his law on the hearts of his people, bring complete forgiveness of sin, and raise up a faithful king from the line of David who will restore all that has been broken.
The Abrahamic Covenant
This is the most central to the biblical story. In it, God promises Abraham a land, descendants and blessing. This blessing promised to Abraham would extend through him to all the peoples of the earth.
Job gives us here a charter with three blessings in it; “Thou hast granted me life and favour, and thy visitation hath preserved my spirit.” These are choice favours; as we dwell upon them, may our hearts gratefully bless God for all that he has done for us!

There are two kinds—unconditional and conditional. Fulfillment of an unconditional promise rests solely with the Lord. One example is God's covenant to never again destroy the entire earth by flood (Genesis 9:11). On the other hand, if a promise is conditional, fulfillment depends on certain requirements being met.

God is the source of all good gifts, of all blessings. James reminds us, “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change” (James 1:17).
The most important goals in life in Chinese traditional thought are the "four blessings" (si fu 四福) which are happiness (xi 喜), professional success or prosperity (lu 禄), longevity (shou 寿), and good luck (good fortune) (fu 福).
Covenant vs Promise
A covenant can be defined as a formal agreement between two or more parties where they agree to do or not to do something. This word is mostly used in religious backgrounds as well. On the other hand, a promise is an assurance that one will do something or that something will happen.
There are different levels of agreement with God, depending on one's needs and heart desires. You can enter into covenant of protection, asking God to remove sicknesses from you and your family members. You are at liberty to ask for blessing of prosperity, wealth and other material blessings.
God promises to bless people from all nations.
God made it clear that this promise of blessing to all nations would not come through Abraham himself, or through his descendents, but through one child called “the seed,” who would be born into Abraham's line (Galatians 3:16).
