Homelander. Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD) is an enduring mental condition characterized by grandiosity, lack of empathy, and an unreasonable hypercritical style.
We can't help but think that his narcissism and violent ways will win out. So, while being one of TV's best villains, Homelander also appears to be one of its best narcissists as well.
When the split happens, Homelander's dark half speaks from the mirror, while the more innocent persona is standing in the real world. This implies the latter is Homelander's true nature, and the bad best friend is merely a coping mechanism that has called the shots for too long.
He May Be Suffering From A Borderline Personality Disorder
With the number of times that Butcher has flown into a rage, made rash decisions, or had sudden changes of heart, it's very much possible that he suffers from a Borderline Personality Disorder of some kind.
In the comics, Homelander doesn't really have any weaknesses either. This allows him to get away with terrorizing people and rampant murder. That said, Homelander does end up dying in the comics, though it isn't Billy Butcher or the other Boys who kill him. It's actually Black Noir who kills Homelander.
Despite being a world filled with superheroes, The Boys is rife with psychopaths such as the Homelander and his chief rival, Billy Butcher.
Superhuman Strength: Black Noir is strong enough to kill Homelander, needing just one punch to completely destroy his jaw. He is stronger than Homelander, who could hurl a fighter jet with one hand and kill Queen Maeve with just one punch.
Billy Butcher was designed as a parody of Punisher, a character that series creator Garth Ennis had written for nine years, prior to creating The Boys. Both characters are family men who become violent, unhinged vigilantes who allow their constant thirst for revenge to take them over completely.
Hughie is intentionally drawn to resemble the British actor and writer Simon Pegg. According to Robertson, he drew the character based on Pegg after seeing him in the sitcom Spaced, and thought that Pegg captured the balance of "innocence but tough determination" that Ennis wanted in the character.
Mindstorm suffered from bipolar disorder. As a byproduct of his bipolarism, Mindstorm eventually lost control over his mind reading abilities and he suffered from both paranoia and agoraphobia.
In private, Homelander shows signs of suffering a mental breakdown, talking to his own reflection in a mirror, and having bouts of nausea. He eventually decides that he is damned anyway for the acts depicted in the photos, and decides to give in to any intrusive thoughts that cross his mind.
One straightforward answer from the comics is that Homelander's biology simply withstood a greater amount of Compound V than a typical human can handle, meaning he is the most powerful because he had more of the substance injected into him.
The Boys season 1 introduced Homelander's obsession with breast milk. His kink isn't easy to watch but it has roots in his unconventional upbringing. Homelander's creepy obsession with breast milk in The Boys can be explained by his tragic backstory.
Of all The Seven members, Black Noir is the most loyal one to Vought, as he always does the tasks and orders given by Vought. Black Noir appears to be the silent loner type and is somewhat socially withdrawn from other members of the Seven.
Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and narcissistic personality disorder (NPD) are two distinct psychiatric conditions that share some overlapping risk factors and symptoms. People with ADHD are known to be at higher risk for personality disorders, including NPD.
Back in the present, Butcher watches as Hughie and Starlight meet at a hotel. At the hotel, Starlight and Hughie have sex. Afterwards, Starlight questions why they are at a hotel, not at his place.
Rather, Kimiko is perfectly able to speak in the comics - she just chooses not to. However, Kimiko in the comics does say one thing near the end of The Boys: "I hate mean people." Although she is able to talk throughout the entirety of The Boys comics, this is the only time Kimiko speaks.
Hughie confronts Butcher and kills him by stabbing him in the chest. Sometime later, Hughie reunites with Starlight and the two eventually get married and move to Scotland.
In the comics, he is parody of Hawkman, while in the TV series, he is more of a parody of Green Arrow, Red Arrow, and Hawkeye.
Kimiko and the Wolverine
Sometimes called The Female, Kimiko is a copy of another fan favorite: The Wolverine from X-men. She shares all the same abilities as Wolverine.
Vikor is likely inspired by Marvel's Thor and other mythical superheroes.
Powers and abilities
In the comics, Black Noir is a long-time member of the Seven, almost always shown in silhouette with his face obscured. His powers include super strength and supposed skills as a pilot. He is stronger than even Homelander; Mother's Milk states he can "[...] bench a dozen Mack trucks".
In the aftermath of the Nicaragua operation, Black Noir is found with half of his face burned and his left eye damaged. The attack also rendered him seemingly unable to speak, explaining why the character never talks in the current timeline.
During Payback's fight against Soldier Boy, Black Noir received catastrophic brain injuries that left him both unable to verbally communicate and saddled with bizarre hallucinations of cartoon animals.
