One of his more decisive defeats came in Alabasta when he fought Crocodile. He was unable to get past the former Warlord's Logia powers and after 3 minutes, Crocodile simply impaled him with his hook. Crocodile left Luffy with a critical injury and tossed him into quicksand to ensure his demise.
