Psalms 127:3 Children are a gift from the LORD; they are a reward from him. New Living Translation (NLT) | Download The Bible App Now.
Just as a father leaves an inheritance to his children, the Lord gives parents the precious possession of children. Children should be considered blessings and not burdens. The unborn child is a reward from the Lord and not simply unwanted tissue to be cast aside.
Father, I pray that my children will flee from evil desires and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, and have pure hearts in Jesus' name. 3.
Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, The fruit of the womb is a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, So are the children of one's youth. Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them; They shall not be ashamed, But shall speak with their enemies in the gate.
Psalm 127 tells us that all our great achievements are ultimately worthless, unless the Lord is building, watching and writing his story through all we do. Nowhere is this seen more clearly than in our families and children. So often in our world today, children are considered a burden.
Psalm 127:3-5 KJV
As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; So are children of the youth. Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: They shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.
3 Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb a reward. 3 Children are a gift from the LORD ; they are a reward from him. 3 Don't you see that children are God's best gift? the fruit of the womb his generous legacy?
Psalms 127:3 Children are a heritage from the LORD, offspring a reward from him.
Psalm 127:2-3 KJV
It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: For so he giveth his beloved sleep.

This continues the thought begun in the prior verse (Psalm 127:4). The father—or, by extension, any parent—of many children is blessed or happy. Children are always a blessing from God. They are not a punishment, or a problem, or a burden.
Chapter Summary
This psalm insists any work, whether it is constructive or defensive, is pointless when it's not aligned with God. Anything not grounded in godly truth is bound to fail, eventually. Long days spent striving to get what the Lord has not willed are just stress leading to sleepless nights.
Psalm 127:3 tells us, “Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from him.” Sometimes, in the hustle of taking care of these kids that are supposed to be a gift to us, they can feel more like a heavy burden.
Surely then when we read Psalm 127:2 it is not a prohibition from work, “It is vain for you to rise up early,” but rather an admonition to not put our trust ultimately in our efforts, “For He gives to His beloved even in his sleep.” Put your hope in God alone.
3 Children are a heritage from the LORD, offspring a reward from him. 4 Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in one's youth. 5 Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. They will not be put to shame when they contend with their opponents in court.
1 Unless the LORD builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain. 2 In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat— for he grants sleep to those he loves. 3 Children are a heritage from the LORD, offspring a reward from him.
Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in one's youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them.
In this verse, the psalmist tells us that our children are arrows, and the ways we help them grow and develop will empower them to bring light into a dark world. Spend time today praying for your children to be a light in their worlds—in their schools and amongst their friends.
Life is truly a gift from God. God is the Creator and Sustainer of all life. God is “pro-life” and as His faithful, Bible-believing followers, so are we!
God created the family, and children are a gift from Him. In fact, the Bible says that offspring are a reward from Him! Because of this, God cares about how children are raised and nurtured. Children are a gift from God. People were also bringing babies to Jesus for him to place his hands on them.
Psalm 127:3
“Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from him.”
The walls' constant presence in people's lives created a safe atmosphere where communities could thrive. Just as a fortress brought peace to a city, God is our fortress and brings peace to our souls in the midst of the chaos happening around us (Psalm 46:7, Psalm 46:11).
So, to “lift one's head” means that one's fortunes are restored. It means that their heads, which were once bowed in sorrow, will then be lifted up in joy. David says here that it is GOD who will do that for Him.
According to Jewish tradition, Psalm 127 was written by David and dedicated to his son Solomon, who would build the First Temple.
