However, Qi'ra decided to stay behind after she killed Vos, desiring to take his place as second in command to the Dawn's true leader Darth Maul, the former Sith apprentice to Darth Sidious.
He tempts Qi'ra in just this way, taking advantage of her upbringing in poverty to make the criminal life look glamorous. Maul knows what it's like to have nothing, but that doesn't make him sympathetic to people like Qi'ra. Instead, it forges links in a chain of co-dependence that connects Qi'ra to Vos.
In order to leave the planet herself, Qi'ra becomes a lieutenant in the Crimson Dawn crime syndicate under Maul, assuming control of the organization after his death, becoming its leader during the Galactic Civil War.
In short: No. The Sith are the Dark Side's answer to the Jedi. Qi'ra doesn't have Force powers.
Talzin's love and protectiveness for Maul was reciprocated, and Maul was greatly devastated by her death. Even after sixteen years, Maul still held an extremely bitter grudge against Sidious for his actions against him and his mother.
In the now-abandoned Legends continuity, his birth name appeared to be Maul, with the title of "Darth" simply added to it when he was taken on as an apprentice by Darth Sidious.
In fact, in this same scene, Sidious says he is keeping Maul alive because he has "other uses for you!" If Palpatine thought Maul knew he about his double identity, there's no way he would have let him stay alive.
History. Qi'ra unites both blades to fight Vader. After receiving extensive training on Teräs Käsi and Sith combat by her master Maul, Qi'ra started using her electric blades whenever she engaged in combat with a Sith Lord.
Thought dead, Darth Maul survived his injuries by focusing on his hatred of Obi-Wan Kenobi, the Jedi who cut him in half. His shattered body was dumped amid the refuse of the junk planet Lotho Minor, where the once deadly warrior fell into madness, staying alive on a diet of vermin.
What this meeting reveals about Qi'ra. The meeting between Leia and Qi'ra, fortunately, doesn't fall into the trope of women jealously fighting over a man they both love. Instead, Qi'ra uses the meeting to forge a potential alliance with Leia and the Rebellion.
Maul was given to Darth Sidious by Mother Talzin at an early age. Like Luke Skywalker, Darth Maul was told that he was chosen to be part of a mystic order that could make an impact on the galaxy -- but Sidious taught him to want to eradicate the Jedi.
Following Return of the Jedi, Han left the family he started (Leia and Ben) to be back with Qi'ra, his first love. Together, they had a daughter.
Sensing his potential, Sidious took Maul as an apprentice while he was still a child. Anointed by his Sith Master as Darth Maul, the Dathomirian was raised to hate the Jedi Knights that served the light side of the Force.
But Qi'ra was a survivor. She managed to escape Corellia after all, rising in the ranks of the crime syndicate Crimson Dawn to become Dryden Vos's most-trusted lieutenant. The two were on Vandor when Qi'ra saw a face from her past: it was Han, seeking an audience with her boss.
> “Maul was a weapon forged for one purpose only-the destruction of the Jedi.” “To Sidious, Maul was neither a fried nor a surrogate son-he was simply an implement.” Basically, Maul was meant to do as much damage to the Jedi Order as possible, and to attract the attention of the Jedi Council...
Qui-Gon Jinn was a Force-sensitive highly respected, yet maverick and unconventional Human male Jedi Master, who lived during the last decades of the Galactic Republic and was most notably responsible for discovering Anakin Skywalker, the Chosen One of the Jedi prophecy, and bringing him into the Jedi Order.
Shortly after, Qi'ra used the Vermillion to intercept the Millennium Falcon. She then contacted the ship's current crew and asked to speak with Organa who was one of the Rebels who had tried to reclaim him at the auction.
Question: Did Maul know Sidious was Palpatine? In legends he did. In the darth plagueis novel I'm pretty sure there's a part where maul was reflecting on his master's political machinations and how he is publicly known as palpatine.
In the film's climax, Maul duels Qui-Gon and his apprentice Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor). He is able to kill Qui-Gon and knock Obi-Wan down a shaft, but Kenobi propels himself out of the pit and uses Qui-Gon's lightsaber to bisect Maul, sending the two parts of his body falling down the shaft.
Despite her training from Maul and her impressive abilities, Qi'ra is still not a Force wielder.
It's possible that Rey adopted the yellow-bladed lightsaber (or perhaps the kyber crystal conjured a yellow blade based on the changes within its wielder) in honor of those emotionally detached sentinels tasked with guarding the Jedi Order.
The Forbidden Forms were forms of lightsaber combat used by the Sith during the Sith Wars. According to the testimonies of the Jedi Cervil the Uncanny, lightwhips—a lightsaber variant with a flexible blade—were used to defend against Sith Lords who utilized the forms.
The cybernetic legs replaced the lower half of Maul's body after he was bisected and sent falling down a pit by Kenobi.
Maul's explicit mention of 'The Chosen One' feels very different for Star Wars. The prophecy has only been mentioned a few other times in the franchise, but it was always by the Jedi. Maul's acknowledgment of the fabled Force user means that knowledge wasn't exclusively held by the Jedi.
