Christ alone is able to assure us of the things that we need and desire the most--the "unseen" things that are of far greater value than anything that this world has to offer: things like peace, love, joy, forgiveness, hope, and everlasting life. These are the things that we are to "look to," as the text tells us.

Faith, according to the unnamed writer of the New Testament letter to the Hebrews, is the assurance of things hoped for and the conviction of things unseen. It's as good a definition as any, although the object of the faith is essential.
In Colossians 1:15, Paul reminds us that Jesus Christ is “the image of the invisible God.” Again, “For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily” (Col. 2:9). It is “in the face of Jesus Christ” that we can know God (2 Cor. 4:6).

Powers and Abilities
As a Watcher the Unseen possesses vast mental, physical, and energy-manipulating powers: Telepathy: Unseen is telepathic, able to scan the mind of virtually every known form of sentient life and to project his thoughts into any brain.
In his book, The Little Prince, Saint-Exupéry wrote: “It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye”. To see with the heart is to see the world and our brothers and sisters through God's gaze. Jesus invites us to renew our way of seeing people and things.

What is visible to us will come and go very quickly. The invisible God, though, is "eternal," meaning "outside of time." Whatever exists with Him in the spiritual world will never end. Paul is able to keep his focus on the glories of eternity by keeping his inner focus on what is eternal.
