One version of the Grimms' story begins with an invitation sent to 12 fairies to each give a blessing to a new-born princess. A thirteenth – and uninvited – fairy, hearing what the others are up to, turns up in a rage and delivers a curse rather than a blessing.
In a version of "Sleeping Beauty," the Thirteenth Fairy goes to heroic and fateful lengths to protect the infant princess. Overprotected by her parents (for good reason, as it turns out) and bullied at school, Filomena is happiest when reading the Never After books.
Film. In Disney's 1959 animated version of Sleeping Beauty, the wicked fairy Maleficent is a dark, almost Satan-like figure who calls herself the "Mistress of all Evil".
And, although Disney renamed her Maleficent in its animated classic, for many, she will always be known as Carabosse.
The wicked Fairy Carabosse has not been invited because no one has seen her for fifty years. Nevertheless she arrives, mortally insulted, just as the other Fairies are presenting their gifts. Carabosse's christening gift to Aurora is a curse: one day she will prick her finger on the needle of a spinning wheel and die.
She was called "Beastie" by Maleficent. At first, Maleficent hated Aurora, but Maleficent soon had developed a close bond with her, so she now calls Aurora "Beastie" as a nickname and a sign of affection towards her.
Carabosse was one of the fairies who lived in Sleeping Beauty's kingdom - in Perrault's version, she is the eighth fairy, and in the Grimms' version, she is the thirteenth.
Angered at not receiving an invitation to her christening, an evil fairy, Maleficent, curses Aurora to die when she pricks her finger on a spinning wheel's spindle before the sun sets on her 16th birthday.

The Story of a Mother
This fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen is one of the saddest of his fairy tales and explains the lengths a mother goes for the life of her child. The tale was first published December 1847.
But the King was not able to invite the 13th fairy to the celebration. She felt insulted, and thus, she thought of taking revenge for this. Therefore, on the day of the grand celebration, the 13th fairy visited the kingdom and cursed the newborn princess.
A fairy-tale ending is usually simplistic, perfect, and often romantic, ending with the phrase: “And they lived happily ever after.” A fairy tale is a children's story that often involves imaginary beings and fantastical events.
Plot. Maleficent is a powerful fairy living in the Moors, a magical forest realm bordering a human kingdom. As a child, she meets a human peasant boy named Stefan, and they both fall in love with each other.
Maleficent confirms that Aurora will grow in grace and beauty, "beloved by all who know her", but as revenge for not being invited by the kingdom, she places a curse on Aurora so that before the sun sets on her sixteenth birthday, she will prick her finger on a spinning wheel's spindle and die.
On Maleficent's sixteenth birthday, Stefan kissed her. However, after some period of time after this, he didn't come to see Maleficent. Stefan later betrayed her and stole her wings, so he would be able to become the new king. Stefan later married Leila, Henry's daughter, and she became his wife and queen.
Though she has an intimidating presence, the Dark Fairy does have a soft spot for her daughter, Faybelle, who she loves dearly.
Faybelle Arabella Raette Thorn is a 2014-introduced and all-around character. She is part of "The Sleeping Beauty" as the next Dark Fairy, and she is a student at Ever After High. In the destiny conflict, she is on the Royal side out of family honor. Even as a child, Faybelle has always loved cheerhexing.
