The Australian Lift, which refers to a type of shoulder lift executed by two people, one on each side of the client, who place their shoulders under the patient's armpit to lift them. The Drag Lift, which refers to the method of lifting where the person pulls/ drags the client up from under the client's arms.
Patient manual handling should only continue in cases which do not involve lifting most or all of a patient's weight. This rules out for example, the shoulder or Australian lift.
The Orthodox Lift
A lift where two carers stand either side of a patient and form a cradle with their hands, arms and wrist in order to lift and move a patient. As the lift is done at arms length there is an immediate risk, and the position puts immense strain on the carer lumbar region.
This lift involves one handling sling being placed under the patient's thighs and one just below the shoulder blades (Fig.
Drag lifting is a good example. This involves, as the name suggests, pulling people up and into position. It often means grabbing a person under the armpits and hoiking them into a sitting position in bed. Unprofessional carers use drag lifting every day. Drag lifting should never be done.
Keep your back straight, and don't twist as you lift. Hold the load as close to your body as possible, at the level of your belly button. Use your feet to change direction, taking small steps. Lead with your hips as you change direction. Keep your shoulders in line with your hips as you move.
Slight bending of your back, hips and knees at the start of the lift is preferable to either fully flexing your back (stooping) or fully flexing your hips and knees (full/deep squatting). Don't flex your back any further while lifting. This can happen if your legs begin to straighten before you start to raise the load.
The overhead press, also known as the shoulder press or military press, is an upper-body weight training exercise in which the trainee presses a weight overhead while seated or standing. It is mainly used to develop the anterior deltoid muscles of the shoulder.
Globally, there are 15 self-governing churches among the Eastern Orthodox, while the Oriental Orthodox, including the Copts, Armenians, Ethiopians and Assyrians, have their own churches. Most of the denominations in both groups have institutional churches in the U.S., with the Greek Orthodox Church being the largest.
'Continental' is a style of lifting where the bar is taken from the ground to the shoulders in any manner possible – usually in 2-3 separate movements.
Also known as a chain hoist, this is used to lift and lower heavy loads vertically using a chain which can be operated either manually, electrically or hydraulically. These are ideal for sites where heavy materials or a lift is routinely required.
Australia. Lift was introduced in Australia in the 1990s as a replacement for the Mello Yello brand.

Four joints are present in the shoulder: the sternoclavicular (SC), acromioclavicular (AC), and scapulothoracic joints, and glenohumeral joint.
Elevator Types
There are four main types of elevators: hydraulic, traction, machine-room-less, and vacuum.
When it comes to the popular “Big 3” lifts—squat, bench, deadlift—the unfortunate truth is that many athletes are simply not good candidates for those particular lifts. This is especially true for big and tall athletes.
With this design, the motor doesn't have to move as much weight, making it much more energy efficient than hydraulic systems. Traction elevators are the most common type of elevator.
Lift is achieved in part by the design of an airplane's wing. Air moves more quickly over the curved upper surface of the wing than it does under the wing, which has a flatter surface. The faster moving air produces less pressure than the slower moving air, causing the wing to lift toward the area of low pressure.
Hydraulic and electric or cable-driven elevators are the two most common types. Each of these two types can be found in both commercial and residential settings.
