According to the results of the eighth Size Korea body index survey, adult Korean men had an average height of 172.5 cm, and adult Korean women had an average height of 159.6 cm — around 5 feet 8 inches and 5 feet 3 inches, respectively.
In fact, many people have even referred to the standard of beauty in Korea as unobtainable, as the ideal height of 162 cm (approximately 5 feet and 4 inches) and weight of 42 kg (about 93 pounds) is outside the reach for many, due to the strict exercise and diet regimen necessary to attain and maintain such a figure.
South Korea classifies BMI figures of 25-29 as first-level obesity, 30-34 as second-level obesity, and 35 and above as third-level. But by the international standard, the first-level obesity category in Korea is considered “overweight,” not “obese.”
In 2021, the average male middle school student in South Korea weighed 63.7 kilograms, while the average female student weight 53.6 kilograms.
For women, you must be below 50kg. Nowadays people now use this calculation: height in cm - 115 = good weight (in kg). Dancers and those on the slim side of modelling must have weights (in kg) that are their height's in cm - 120. This applies to both women and men (though the 120 rule does not apply so much).
But the average woman aged 20 to 24 in the country is 1.6m tall and has a waist size of 28 inches and hip size of 36 inches, according to the Korea Agency for Technology and Standards in 2015.
According to this data, the percent of obese adults in Korea was 34.6 percent in 2018, far higher than the 5.9 percent reported by the OECD for Korea. The Korean agency put the percentage of obese adults here at 37.1 percent in 2021.

Body shape is just as important as body size. Korea isn't a very diverse country and there's just less overall variety of body types. Rectangular or column-like body shapes are the most common among women, with some larger women having an apple shape.

What should your waist measurement be? For men, a waist circumference below 94cm (37in) is 'low risk', 94–102cm (37-40in) is 'high risk' and more than 102cm (40in) is 'very high'. For women, below 80cm (31.5in) is low risk, 80–88cm (31.5-34.6in) is high risk and more than 88cm (34.6in) is very high.
There's no certain weight limit. The weights of female K-Pop idols range from 34kg to 59kg, with the average at 46.4kg. Ryujin (Shin Ryujin) of ITZY is quite representative of the average female K-Pop idol weight (47kg) and height (165cm).
According to a survey conducted in 2019 by Ipsos on global attitudes toward beauty, around 58 percent of South Korean respondents stated that they preferred women to be between 5 feet 5 inches (around 165cm) to 5 feet 9 inches (around 175cm) tall.
The ultimate size and shape that a child attains as an adult size are reached during 17 to 18 years of age.
South Korean high school students are among the tallest in Asia, with male students aged 16 years old averaging 173.9 cm and female students averaging 161.5 cm in 2021.
Weight. The base unit of Korean weight is the gwan. At the time of Korea's metrification, however, the pound was in more common use. Although it was usually taken as equivalent to 600 g, as with red pepper and meats, a separate pound of 400 g was used for fruits and another of 375 or 200 g was used for vegetables.
