Black is a super-power color when it comes to making anything look smaller — wear it where you want to diminish. And pair it with an eye-catching bright or print blouse or shirt. Don't own any? Wrap on a light statement scarf for the same effect.
Black never fails to make you look slim and elegant. Darker shades of colors like blue, purple and brown can also help to hide flaws and create a slimming illusion. On the other hand, lighter colors, like white and khaki, can add pounds and give the illusion of a larger frame.
Shades of navy blue, chocolate brown or dark grey. All these colors are quite prominently used to give the wearer the advantage of casting the illusionary effect of being slim. In principle, the darker the shade you wear, the slimmer the look it imparts.
For instance, you should avoid horizontal prints and go for vertical-print dresses with deep necks. Likewise, choosing darker colors like blacks, blues, and monochromes can lend you a leaner look. High-rise jeans with flowy tops, pencil skirts, shirts, and LBDs can be your go-to outfits to look slimmer.
Go big on top, narrow on bottom
Pair any full-cut top, blouse, jacket or tunic with a slim base of trim pants, leggings or straight or skinny jeans (here's where the latter come in handy even if you no longer love them).
Wear leggings or skinnies with longer, draped or asymmetrical tops. Leggings or stretchy pants that tuck in the tummy will be your best friend. They will fit comfortably around your belly and tuck it in a bit. Also, with so many wonderful tunics and long tops to choose from, you will look fabulous.
V-necklines are one of the easiest details to look for when it comes to finding tops that can make you look slimmer. It's more of a subtle tip, but it works! Plus, V-neckline tops are abundant and pretty easy to find. V and scoop necks will definitely elongate your torso because they draw attention down your frame.
Try monochromatic color schemes. Large blocks of solid color draw the eye up and down rather than side to side. As a result, the eye takes in more height than width, causing you to appear thinner and taller. Try wearing solid color dresses, top and bottom pieces, or even color blocked dresses.
If you are serious about hiding your tummy, then I suggest you go for dark colors, flowy fabrics, and vertical patterns.
RED VS BLACK: As per Kramer, “Red is traditionally seen as the colour of love, but more recently research has shown that both black and red are perceived as equally attractive and that the two colours may simply increase attractiveness in different ways.”
A person surrounded by yellow generally feels optimistic because the brain releases more serotonin when surrounded by the color yellow. Also, yellow enhances concentration and speeds up the metabolism.
A bit of a no brainer but – the darker the shade, the smaller the surface area will look (in this case your thighs!). Opt for deeper shades of burgundy and navy blue if you need a change from black, to create the illusion of a thinner silhouette.
Shaping shorts are great for wearing under fitted dresses, skirts, or even pants, and we love these because they're thin and seamless while still providing smoothing and shaping benefits. In addition to the tummy area, they also smooth the booty and thighs.
Asymmetrical Tops
If you're looking for a top that will make your arms look slimmer, an asymmetrical top might be the answer! This type of top typically features an off-center neckline and is usually cut diagonally to create a slimming effect. The diagonal cut elongates the body and draws attention away from the arms.
Skinny fat people are often a normal weight (or underweight!) but because of their sedentariness, lack of muscle, or poor diet, they have a high percentage of body fat. Often, skinny fat people are at risk of certain medical issues as listed: Raised blood sugar, leading to insulin resistance or diabetes.
Peplum tops make your waist look thinner, and this effect is accentuated with the volume that is generated in the bottom of the blouse. Never forget, that if you're trying to make your hips look smaller, this is not an option for you. But if you don't care about that, a Peplum blouse is an excellent fit for you.
I recommend wearing solid colors to help you appear taller and leaner. You could also wear a belted dress or wrap dress to accentuate your waist. Above all, avoid boxy and bulky clothing that will make you look bigger.
There's truly nothing better than a pair of jeans that supports your tummy just enough without being too tight or uncomfortable. In terms of hiding belly fat, high-waisted jeans could become your new best friend. Simply put, high-rise jeans help you hide belly fat by covering and smoothing the area.
A-line dresses and skirts, caftans, skimming silhouettes, empire waist tops, and dresses are styles to embrace. V-neck lines are most flattering if you are trying to draw attention away from your midsection. They also offer some ventilation!
Wearing dark colours will always make you look slimmer and will not accentuate your body bulges. The easiest way to cut down a few inches is to wear a dark coloured outfit, since it effectively hide bumps, creases and folds in your body. If you are planning to buy a tight fitted outfit, opt a dark colour.
