Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) is an herb used in Ayurveda, a form of alternative medicine with roots in India. It's an adaptogenic herb with a long history of use as a treatment for anxiety.
Of all available research, kava is by far the most effective natural treatment option for anxiety. It's an herb that has been used for decades to fight anxiety with a considerable amount of success, and one that has research-supported benefits for reducing anxiety.

Valerian root
Valerian root (Valeriana officinalis) is a well-known supplement for anxiety. Greek physicians realized it had calming effects back in 460 B.C. But the results are mixed with valerian root. Some studies show a benefit in treating anxiety but others don't.
