Daesangs are the most coveted awards at year-end award shows. Other awards do matter; however, Daesangs showcase if the artist's effort has been acknowledged or not. Usually, every award show has grand prizes, but not all award show grand prizes are considered prestigious in the K-pop world.
Mnet Asian Music Awards, or MAMA, is one of the biggest music awards that is broadcast on 4 continents, including Asia, Europe, North America, and Oceania. Every year, MAMA presents a spectacular concept and theme of stages and shows.
Despite breaking several streaming records, the band never won a Grammy award among their five nominations. While their fan ARMY has always slammed the award show for the same, Suga seemingly took a dig at the awards as well.
The Korean Music Awards (KMA) are considered to be South Korea's Grammy-equivalent awards show. Unlike album sales, streams, or mainstream popularity, the KMAs focus on musical achievement and are thus considered the most prestigious awards show in the country.
By statute, the Grand Order of Mugunghwa is the highest decoration in Korea, however in the eyes of the public it is not as well regarded. Many Koreans feel that the order has far less significance.
Prior to that, BTS took part in the US awards show as an award presenter for the 61st edition in 2018 and as a performer in 2019. There have been only two Korean Grammy awards winners until now -- the internationally acclaimed soprano Sumi Jo, and sound engineer and head of Soundmirror Korea Hwang Byeong-joon.
Blackpink was not nominated for a Grammy in 2021. Although the group has four platinum albums and one gold album, the primary reason for their omission from the Grammy Awards is that their album was released after the deadline for nominations, making them ineligible for the awards.
But Jungkook, J-Hope, Jin, Jimin, Suga, RM, and V all didn't come out to Los Angeles for the ceremony. Jin is serving military duty right now, which explains his absence. None of them were photographed on the red carpet.
In September 2015, Girls' Generation became the first artist in South Korea to accumulate a total of 100 wins on music shows. BTS currently holds the record for most awarded song with "Dynamite", released in August 2020. The song won the first-place award for a total of 32 times.
As many BTS fans (known as ARMY) know, BTS will not break up. J-Hope is only leaving to serve his military enlistment duty. In the same Weverse announcement, Big Hit added, “Both the company and the members of BTS are looking forward to reconvening as a group again around 2025 following their service commitment.”
Beyoncé is the most Grammy Award winning artist of all times with 32 trophies to her name. Second came Sir Georg Solti, an orchestral and operatic conductor, i with a total of 31 Grammy Awards won for recordings of works as diverse as Bach, Bartók, and Wagner.

For a third year in a row, K-pop superstars BTS were shut out at the Grammy Awards. The seven-member ensemble, the biggest South Korean act in history, was nominated in two categories at the 65th Grammy Awards: music video for “Yet to Come” and pop duo/group performance for “My Universe” with Coldplay.
But when considering the awards count of Blackpink vs BTS, the latter has the upper hand. When it comes to K-Pop, BTS, and Blackpink have gained massive popularity and success at home and abroad, and have won several accolades throughout their careers.

The GRAMMY Winners
Although Larry Ramos of the New Christy Minstrels and the Association, singer/songwriter Yvonne Elliman and cellist Yo-Yo Ma had been nominated at Music's Biggest Night, it wasn't until 1992 that an act of Asian descent won a GRAMMY in a rock category.
While BTS has yet to secure a Grammy win, their nominations alone have helped them made history. As it currently stands, BTS is tied with five other acts for the third-most nominations in the history of the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance category.
