Consuming dog meat is legal in mainland China except for the city of Shenzhen, and the Chinese Ministry of Agriculture has never issued quarantine procedures for slaughtering dogs.
Han Chinese in both northern and southern China traditionally ate dog meat. Meat was a rare commodity in feudal China, so farmers often slaughtered their dogs to supplement their diets of rice, millet, and vegetables.
Launched in 2010 by dog meat traders to boost flagging sales, the Yulin event starts on June 21 and can attract thousands of visitors from across the province in southern China, who gather to eat dog meat stew and crispy dog meat at the city's restaurants and stalls.
History Of Yulin Festival, The Annual Dog Meat Festival
The Yulin Lychee and Dog Meat Festival, commonly known as the “Yulin Festival”, is an annual “festival” held in Yulin, a city in the Guangxi province in south-west China. The festival is held on the lunar summer solstice day every year.
Due in part to social media campaigns both in and outside of China, the number of dogs slaughtered has apparently decreased since 2013 to 1,000 in 2016, although the festival is still being held in 2021.
Dog meat has been a tradition in China for thousands of years and is still eaten in many regions of the country. The best known of these regions among westerners is Yulin, which holds a dog meat festival every year.

Both cats and dogs are predators (or at least carnivores). They require meat to farm. Their meat ouput is negative.
The law penalizes "the commercial Slaughter of cats and dogs with fines of up to $5,000". It prohibits shipping, sale and transportation of animals for the "purpose of slaughter for human consumption", except for Native American tribes performing religious ceremonies.
Basically, in Japanese culture, the life of dogs is fantastic. Just as the owner and the dogs can eat together, they can eat together, even in cafes. A special menu is there in the cafés for dogs that include the tiny waffles as well. Even there is a chain of hotels that allows their customers to live with their dogs.

Foods and other products, such as alcohol, are generally regulated in the UK around their production and sale rather than their consumption. As a result, the regulation and licensing of food production and sale prevents dog meat being legally and commercially available for consumption in the UK.
