COMMA RULE #3 – THE COMMA IN A COMPOUND SENTENCE: Use a comma before and, but, or, nor, for, so, or yet to join two independent clauses that form a compound sentence.
Just remember that you should only put a comma before "and" when joining two independent clauses or in a list of three or more things.
Use a comma after phrases of more than three words that begin a sentence. If the phrase has fewer than three words, the comma is optional. Examples: To apply for this job, you must have previous experience.
John Smith III or John Smith, III? A. Traditionally, it would be John Smith, Jr., and John Smith III. But beginning with the fourteenth edition of The Chicago Manual of Style (1993), the recommendation is to use no commas in either case (see paragraph 6.43 of the seventeenth edition):
Use a comma between all items in a series
Rule: Use a comma to separate each item in a series; a series is a group of three or more items having the same function and form in a sentence.
A simple rule for using numbers in writing is that small numbers ranging from one to ten (or one to nine, depending on the style guide) should generally be spelled out. Larger numbers (i.e., above ten) are written as numerals.
Use the spelled-out word for single digit numbers. Numbers with more digits should be written with the digits unless it's the first word in the sentence; then write it out. In technical writing (lots of math and other sciency stuff) you generally see every number written with digits.
A comma is never used as an end mark, and it is read with a shorter pause than an end mark. One use of the comma is to separate three or more words, phrases, or clauses in a list or series. Commas go after each item except the last.
An ellipsis is a punctuation mark of three dots (. . .) that shows an omission of words, represents a pause, or suggests there's something left unsaid.
Use commas after each item in a list of three or more items. Nurses monitor a patient's vital signs including temperature, blood pressure, respiratory rate, and pulse. Use semi-colons after each item in a list if one or more items already includes a comma.
We use commas every three digits to the left of the decimal point because it's important to know how many digits there are. It's less important to know how many digits there are to the right of the decimal point. The number of digits to the left of the decimal point tells you how big the number is.
The colon is used to introduce a list of items. The bookstore specializes in three subjects: art, architecture, and graphic design. Do not, however, use a colon when the listed items are incorporated into the flow of the sentence.
When Do I Use the Serial Comma? The simple answer is that in Australia and New Zealand, we don't routinely make use of the serial comma. That means you definitely don't put it before every 'and' in a list of more than two items. In fact, we only use it when it is necessary for clarity or to avoid confusion.
The Oxford Comma is a comma used when there are three or more list items.

Fractions as Words
For instance, we would write “2/3” as “two thirds”: He ate two thirds of the pizza by himself! This applies for most fractions.
So "3" appears 20 times.
Spell out numbers zero through one hundred.
Use numeral figures to represent numbers above one hundred, but spell out whole numbers like three hundred or one thousand. Use numerals to represent non-whole numbers, such as 1,239 or 603.
[M] [T] It'll soon be three o'clock. [M] [T] She met him three years ago. [M] [T] I caught three fish yesterday. [M] [T] He drank three bottles of beer.
Most numbers use the suffix –th, except for 1 (first), 2 (second), and 3 (third). Numbers over 20 use the suffix of the last number, for example, the ordinal for 53 is fifty–third.
We can write numbers in words with the help of English Alphabets. Therefore, you can read 3 as “Three” in English.
It states that any ideas, thoughts, events, characters or sentences that are presented in threes are more effective and memorable. Hence, it is called the Rule of Three. A Latin saying, 'Omne trium perfectum' literally means 'everything that comes in threes is perfect'.
