BT Answer 1571 is an answering service that answers calls when you're away from the phone or engaged on another call. You'll know you have a message in your mailbox if you get an interrupted dial tone.
BT Answer 1571 is a basic answering service and is completely free of charge. To activate the service, dial Freefone 0800 003 800.
Beaming's 1471 Call Return service tells you the last number that called – unless the caller withheld their number by dialling 141 before dialling your number. 1471 Call Return also lets you return the call straight away, by pressing 3. 1471 is always active and useful even if you have an answering machine.
How much does it cost? It's free to use 1471 to find out the last number that called. If you press '3' to return the call there's a 35p charge plus the cost of the call.
The Answer 1571 service, a cut-down version of BT Group's Call Minder service, allows a calling party to leave messages when the called party is engaged or does not answer within a fixed number of rings.

If you have an interrupted dial tone, but no 1571 voice mail message, it's likely that a caller has hung up after the call has connected, but before the message recording has started. Here's how to remove the interrupted dial tone: Call your number and leave a message when prompted.
You can easily cancel 1571 online. Go to www.bt.com/callingfeatures and click the Manage my calling features button. This will start an online order process. Put in your home number and postcode and confirm you're the BT account holder to continue.
You need your PIN to listen to your messages from phones other than your own. You can choose a remote access PIN that's easy for you to remember after you dial 1571. For security reasons, you won't be able to choose a PIN with simple sequences such as 2222 or 1234. You can only change your PIN from your own phone.
Sorry – it's only possible to call the 1571 voicemail number from your phone at home, not your mobile. To listen to the message: dial 1571. press 3 to return the call costs 20p, plus the cost of your call.
If you call your voicemail from your mobile phone to listen to messages, that call will be charged at the international roaming rate of the country you're in.
Basic Voicemail
Visual Voicemail users can check voicemail using the *86 method in addition to using the Visual Voicemail app. The Voicemail Notification option is controlled through the Visual Voicemail app, not via Personal Options, and isn't adjustable.
To call your voicemail on an Android phone, simply open your phone's dial pad and hold your finger down on the "1" key. You can also call your voicemail from a different phone by calling your own number and tapping the pound key.
Open the Phone app. Go to the keypad and press and hold '1'. This will call your voicemail and you can listen to your voice messages.

Checking your landline voicemail with another phone usually requires the same easy steps. To check voicemail from another phone, you usually need to call your number, press the star or pound key (depending on your carrier), and enter your pin.
If you choose to use an answering machine instead of voicemail, you will need to set your answering machine to pickup calls before voicemail, which is fewer than 4 rings.
The difference between BT Call Minder and BT Answer 1571
Call Minder stores up to 30 messages for 30 days, while Answer 1571 stores only up to 10 messages for 20 days. Call Minder subscribers can also create personalized greetings and access their mailboxes remotely, two features not available on Answer 1571.
Concealing Last Caller details
Deleting their number from the Last Caller service stops it being mentioned when 1471 is dialled. To do this: Call 1475 on your landline (or 14701475 if you're withholding your number). Listen to the instructions.
BT Call Protect sends calls to a junk voicemail rather than actually blocking them. Recorded messages can be listened to by dialling 1572 from your home phone. If you'd like to receive calls from a number that's been sent to your junk voicemail, you can add them to your 'VIP list'. Calls to 1572 are free.
Thank you for posting. You should be able to increase the number of rings by accessing Voicemail by dialing 1571. In the menu select 4 and this should give you the option to increase the number of rings.
