Sometimes an account is created, setup, and then locked so that other accounts can use the objects in it and no one is allowed to log in to change it. There are different reasons to lock or disable an account but the effect is the same. You cannot log in.
If you tried to sign in to your account and received a message that it's been locked, it's because activity associated with your account might violate our Terms of Use.
But what is the difference between these two options, other than account disable will take effect immediately and account expires take effect once the specified time period is reached. In both cases, the accounts remain in AD and users won't be able to logon using those accounts.
A disabled account means you've been taken offline, often for security reasons.
If your account is disabled, you can ask Google to restore your access. To get started, head to myaccount.google.com and enter your Gmail address. Tip: If you can't get in to your account, you may be able to download and save account data from some Google Services.
