In March 2005, the ESRB introduced a new rating, "Everyone 10+", designating games with content of a relatively higher impact than those of games rated "Everyone", but still not high enough to garner a "Teen" rating. The first game to receive this rating was Donkey Kong Jungle Beat.
EVERYONE 10+ (E10+): Titles rated E10+ have content that may be suitable for ages 10 and older. Titles in this category may contain more cartoon, fantasy or mild violence, mild language, and/or minimal suggestive themes.
The ESRB E (Everyone) rating indicates the content of a game or app is generally suitable for all ages, and may contain minimal cartoon, fantasy or mild violence, or infrequent use of mild language.
Titles rated E (Everyone) have content that may be suitable for persons ages 6 and older. Titles in this category may contain minimal cartoon, fantasy or mild violence and/or infrequent use of mild language.
Titles rated E – Everyone have content that may be suitable for persons ages six and older. Titles in this category may contain minimal violence, some comic mischief and/or mild language. Titles rated T – Teen have content that may be suitable for persons ages 13 and older.
NBA 2K23 is currently available for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC platforms. For more information, please visit the game's official website. Developed by Visual Concepts, NBA 2K23 is rated E for Everyone from the ESRB.
The earliest console video game to receive a “mature” rating from the Entertainment Software Rating Board, was the SNES version of Doom was The Board deemed the game suitable only for those aged 17 years old or over because of the “Animated Blood and Gore and Animated Violence” in the content.
May contain intense violence, blood and gore, sexual content and/or strong language. Content suitable only for adults ages 18 and up. May include prolonged scenes of intense violence, graphic sexual content and/or gambling with real currency.
Blood can be present in E10+ rated video games if it is either discolored and unrealistic (animated blood) or if it's red, in small amounts and infrequent appearances (mild blood). Violent references may also be present in E10+ rated video games.
Mathematically 7/10 is better than average, and therefore we feel like it is a good score. However, when it comes to ratings and reviews, 7/10 is mediocre, because people are generally nice, and rarely willing to give other people or services a truly low score.
MPAA has five rating categories
The new ratings system began with four categories: G (general audiences), M (mature audiences, changed in 1969 to PG, parental guidance suggested), R (restricted, no children under 17 allowed without parents or adult guardians), and X (no one under 17 admitted).
R - Under 17 requires accompanying parent or adult guardian. Contains some adult material. Parents are urged to learn more about the film before taking their young children with them.
The new analysis updates an earlier 2012 investigation, which found that gun violence in the nation's top-grossing PG-13 films more than doubled between 1985 and 2012. By then, gun violence had begun to exceed that found in R-rated films.
VM14 (vietato ai minori di 14 anni): No one under 12 admitted. Children aged 12 and 13 should be accompanied by a person aged 18 and over. Equivalent to PG-13 for movies and TV-14 for television.
The Video Recordings Act 1984 only makes it illegal to supply a PEGI 12, 16 or 18 rated game to a person under those ages. It doesn't make it illegal for a younger person to play a game if their parents let them.
A game rated "M" by the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) is meant only for people aged 17 and over. An "AO"-rated game is meant only for those 18 and over. The ratings have no legal bearing, but most of the video game industry--which sponsors the ESRB--abides by them.
Is it illegal for a minor to buy an M rated game? Nope. Nor is it illegal to sell an M rated game to someone under 17.
Kristine Leahy breaks the news to Shaq that he's the only player in NBA2K history to have ever received a 100 rating.
No inappropriate content can be found in the game, which includes censoring song lyrics, but unmoderated online play could expose players to inappropriate comments from opponents.
Some Hall of Famers are listed as well, with Tim Duncan, Kevin Garnett, Kobe Bryant all getting 99 ratings, and Shaquille O'Neal notably being the only player ever to get a 100 overall.
G - General audiences. M - Mature audiences. R - Restricted: no-one under 16 (later 17) admitted unless accompanied by an adult. X - Adults only - no-one under 17 admitted.
Mature (M)
Films and computer games classified M (Mature) contain content of a moderate impact. M-rated films and computer games are not recommended for children under the age of 15.
R: Restricted, Children Under 17 Require Accompanying Parent or Adult Guardian. This rating means the film contains adult material such as adult activity, harsh language, intense graphic violence, drug abuse and nudity.
