Using the Kanji Character Ai
Writing love in Japanese is represented as the kanji symbol 愛 which means love and affection. It takes 13 strokes to create the kanji for love.
Meaning. In practice the term "bijin" means "beautiful woman" because the first kanji character, bi (美), has a feminine connotation.
かわいい (kawaii) — Cute
Though it actually means “cute,” it is also a pretty cute word to say as well.
As for how to say “pretty girl” in Japanese, you could say きれい女性 (kirei josei) for a woman. But it's more natural to say 可愛い女の子 (kawaii onna no ko) for young girls, which uses the word for “cute” – more on that in a moment.
It is commonly written in hiragana, かわいい, but the ateji, 可愛い, has also been used. The kanji in the ateji literally translates to "able to love/be loved, can/may love, lovable."
