A snug piercing, also known as the anti-helix, is a horizontal piercing through the inner ridge of your cartilage. Because it's one of the most painful piercing types, it's one of the rarest ear piercings.
One of the more unusual inner-ear piercings, a rook piercing inserts in the inner cartilage, above the daith and between the inner conch and the forward helix. As a cartilage piercing, the rook doesn't pierce as easily as say, the lobe.
Tragus. Unconventional options like tragus piercings (that thicker cartilage at the center of your ear, where the moon stud is shown here) are gaining popularity for their subtlety. “This is one of the more understated piercings,” says Hayler. “Since it sits quite close to your face, it isn't immediately obvious.”
The most trendy ear-piercing types are rook, conch, daith, constellation and helix.
#1: Nostril Piercings
Nose piercings are overall the most popular piercings for women. Around 19% of pierced women have at least one nose piercing. Nostril piercings are the most popular of these and can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion.
Daith piercings are one of the most fun piercings to style! Located on the smallest fold of the cartilage in your ear, where the outer ridge of your ear meets your inner ear above the ear canal, this is a unique piercing that can handle a wow-worthy statement piece.
Lobe piercings are the most common ear piercing — they are situated in the soft and fleshy region of the ear called the lobule. Depending on the size and shape of your lobes — everyone's are different!
The daith is located in the inner ear, so this piercing is not only painful to sit through but also tricky to heal. The cartilage is quite dense to go through and there's a distinct pressure that comes along with this piercing.
Along with the nostrils and belly button, the earlobes are the safest and most common body part to be pierced.
As you can see your choice of piercing can influence how likely it is to reject. For example, there is less chance of a Daith piercing rejection or nose piercing rejection compared to an eyebrow piercing rejection or bridge piercing rejection.
Surface piercings are the most common types of piercing to be rejected by the body. Surface piercings travel along an area of skin, rather than going directly through a body part. The jewelry punctures only a small amount of the skin's surface. Examples of surface piercings include eyebrows, neck, hip, and wrist.
Nipple piercings along with any other piercing that is covered by clothing is essentially easy to hide. You just have to wear a t-shirt!
Daith piercings can usually only be performed using a specialized needle that was first designed by Erik Dakota. Although it was initially done for aesthetic purposes, today Daith piercing for anxiety is common. After getting the piercing, some people claim that it helps reduce their anxiety.
A Monroe piercing is a lip piercing placed off-center, above the upper lip on the left-hand side and is meant to resemble Marilyn Monroe's beauty spot, although Monroe's beauty spot was on her cheek, not her lip. The Madonna piercing is similar but worn on the right-hand side. Monroe piercing.
Cartilage Piercings (Helix)
For ages 13 and up. For the more adventurous young adult looking to get their first or more cartilage piercing(s), we offer the basic helix piercing.
Angel bite piercings are double piercings that sit symmetrically above the upper lip. The name doesn't seem to have a traceable origin, but they're referred to by a number of other titles, including anti-bites and Madonna Monroe piercings.
Navel. Navel piercings take the longest to heal, usually taking anywhere between 6 to 12 months. It is important to keep the area clean and dry, and avoid changing jewelry too often. Avoiding tight clothing and swimming pools is important, as these can cause infections and irritation.
Daith piercings are one of the few you can initially puncture with a ring instead of a stud. It's located between the tragus and lower part of the forward helix in the innermost part of your ear (a pressure point some claim can help with migraines), which keeps it protected from irritation during sleep.
If you're looking for the TLDR of it all, just keep in mind that earlobes, nostrils, and lip piercings are generally the safest ones to go with, though they still come with their issues.
Industrial piercing with stacked lobe
IMO, an industrial piercing (i.e, two holes connected with a single piece of jewelry, usually a barbel) automatically looks cool and edgy. And when you pair it with a few dainty piercings, like teeny-tiny diamond studs, you've got a super-intricate, curated-ear look.
It is not uncommon to have multiple piercings performed on the same day. We recommend not getting more than four piercings in one session, especially if you're getting them on the same ear. Getting multiple piercings can also cause increased swelling during healing and can prolong healing time.
