As the ultimate curvilinear shape, the circle embodies all of the attributes that attract us: it is a safe, gentle, pleasant, graceful, dreamy, and even beautiful shape that evokes calmness, peacefulness, and relaxation.
The most aesthetically pleasing images are all based on the golden ratio. The golden ratio is, put simply, a rectangle a little more than 1.6 times wide as it is high.
Squares and Rectangles
Square shapes are calming and pleasing to look at because they evoke a sense of conformity, honesty, and rationality. You can't imagine a square shape being easily toppled, so images with squares as the dominant shape feel exceptionally reassuring.
Squares
Squares and, similarly, rectangles are the most common shapes you see in man-made objects. You find them everywhere from picture frames to large buildings. People like them because they're simple, balanced, solid, and secure.
Hourglass silhouettes are coveted in beauty magazines and pop culture, but it's actually the least common body shape.
Triangles are the strongest shape there is. Any weight placed on them is evenly distributed on all 3 sides. They represent geometric sturdiness; no matter how much weight you put on any side, it will not break.
1. Squares and rectangles. Squares and rectangles are among the most common geometric shapes that we are familiar with. Rectangles and squares indicate familiarity, comfort, security, and a sense of peace. Even when not in focus, they are used in almost every design as a base or a frame to give it a sense of stability.
Curved shapes offer rhythm and movement, happiness, pleasure, and generosity. They are seen as softer than sharper shapes, which offer energy, violence, and anger.
Ultimately, the scientists found that visitors like shapes with gentle curves as opposed to sharp points.
Results – Strong Shapes
We tried the experiment twice and both times found the circular column to be the strongest. This is because it doesn't have any edges so the weight of the books is shared evenly by the circle.
Distress, anger, disgust, and fear are all depicted as downward-pointing triangles surrounded by double sharp lines, with colors of the triangles and lines as blue and purple, red and black, green and brown, and black and purple, respectively.
The heart shape is recognized the world over as a symbol of romantic love and affection, but its historical origins are difficult to pin down.
"Jodie Comer was the clear winner when all elements of the face were measured for physical perfection. She had the highest overall reading for the positioning of her nose and lips, with a score of 98.7%, which is only 1.3% away from being the perfect shape.
Positive shapes are the shapes of actual objects. Negative shapes are the areas between these objects.
Figures and shapes
However, a circle or triangle is associated with movement, so they are more likely to attract attention than a static rectangle.
Geometrical shapes show emotion because curving shapes such as circles depict calmness whereas sharp-edged shapes like squares depict agitation. In addition, light-coloured shapes convey happiness whereas dark-coloured shapes convey sorrow.
Triangles: Power, science, religion, law, masculinity, strength, purpose, energy, precision.
Different states of anger, like fury and annoyance, are represented by red triangles. In contrast, states of fear are purple faceted waves which “feel” very different than sadness' soft, heavy blue bubbles or disgust's green glops.
The triangle has three corners to support its load, the square has four, the hexagon has six and the octagon has eight corners. In contrast, the circle can be viewed as having 360 corners. Thus, the circle is by far the strongest shaped column.
A two-dimensional equable shape (or perfect shape) is one whose area is numerically equal to its perimeter. For example, a right angled triangle with sides 5, 12 and 13 has area and perimeter both have a unitless numerical value of 30.
Triangles are particularly important because arbitrary polygons (with 4, 5, 6, or n sides) can be decomposed into triangles. Thus, understanding the basic properties of triangles allows for deeper study of these larger polygons as well.
An attachment style describes how people relate to others based on how secure they feel. Fearful avoidant attachment is thought to be the rarest attachment type.
The most beautiful relationship in the world is Friendship.
