Just before turning 27 years old, Flossie (UK) has officially received the Guinness World Records title of oldest living cat. Now, Flossie might still look like a cute little kitty, and is just as playful as one, but she's actually very old for a cat.
Almost 100-year-old cat waiting for a forever home
Pippin is back at the RSPCA's Lonsdale shelter in South Australia after outliving two of her previous owners. RSPCA team member Jenny Sherring hopes the third time is the charm for the feline, who is 98 in human years and 20 years and six months in cat years.
LONDON - A 27-year-old feline in the United Kingdom has become the "world's oldest cat" according to Guinness World Records. "Flossie" is a black and brown kitty who's the equivalent of 120 human years. She is in mostly good health but does suffer from poor eyesight and is deaf, according to GWR.
Then it gets much easier: Each year of a cat's life is roughly equal to four human years, so a 3-year-old cat is about 29; a 4-year-old cat is 33; a 5-year-old cat is 37; and a 6-year-old cat is 41. And so on and so on. If your cat gets to 20, she's around 97 human years old.
10 human years = 60 cat years. 12 human years = 70 cat years. 14 human years = 80 cat years.
How old is a 17 year old cat in human years? A 17 year old cat is the equivalent to 84 human years old.
Second of all, 260 in cat years is roughly 50 human years. No cat can live 50 years. (Although, you might argue that Cinnamon was a very special cat.)
According to the American Veterinary Medical Association: The first year of a medium-sized dog's life is equal to approximately 15 years of a human's life. The second year of a dog's life equals about nine years for a human. And after that, every human year equals approximately four or five years for a dog.
Year two for a dog equals about nine years for a human. And after that, each human year would be approximately five years for a dog.
In most cases, cats will purr when they are in a relaxed environment, sending out waves of calmness. This may also occur when you stroke them, and if this is the case, your feline friend is feeling happy or sociable. However, cats purr to communicate other emotions and needs, too.
On the other side of the coin, if you consider that, as The Cat Bible suggests, 16 human years is comparable to 84 cat years, then a 100-year-old human could be said to be the equivalent of 525 cat years.
Well, dogs are in possession of faster metabolisms and hearts that work harder than our own. Because of all this extra work, dogs age faster and, consequently, live shorter lives. It also means they grow up more quickly. A dog that's a year old is the equivalent of a human child ready to start school.
Dogs From Three to Six Years Old
So, a three year old dog is in their late twenties, a four year old dog is in their early thirties, and a five year old dog is in their mid to late thirties.
Dogs sadly don't get to enjoy as many birthdays as humans (unless you celebrate with them four to seven times every year) so make sure you get some snaps to remember the day.
14 years old can generally be considered old for a dog. A small dog is considered old when they're 11, a medium dog is considered old when they're 10, and a large dog is considered old when they're 8.
Gino, 22, is crowned world's oldest living dog by Guinness World Records. LOS ANGELES - He may be 22, but he's forever young in our hearts! Meet Gino, a rescue dog living in Los Angeles, who was just named the "oldest dog living" by Guinness World Records. "I give him all the credit," his human, Alex Wolf told Today.
So a 7-year-old dog would be roughly 62.1 human years old.
A 13- to 15-year-old dog, depending on her size and health, is roughly equivalent to a 70- to 115-year-old person.
A 10- to 12-year-old dog, depending on his size and individual variation, is roughly the equivalent of a 60- to 90-year-old person. By now, you've likely realized that your dog is slowing down. He may still enjoy a long walk, but he is not quite as zippy as he used to be.
