Rule 144 provides an exemption and permits the public resale of restricted or control securities if a number of conditions are met, including how long the securities are held, the way in which they are sold, and the amount that can be sold at any one time.
The formula for the Rule of 144 is, 144 divided by the interest rate equal to the number of years it will take to quadruple your money. For instance: If you invest Rs 1,00,000 with a 12% annual expected return, then the time by which it will gain four times is 144/12 = 12 years.
Rule 144 applies if you are: a non-affiliate shareholder who wants to sell their restricted securities. an affiliate of the issuing company who wants to sell their securities (whether they are restricted or "free trading") into the public market.
Anyone who sells restricted, unregistered, and control securities in the United States must follow Rule 144 of the Securities Act of 1933,1 which was passed as a way to protect investors after the stock market crashed in 1929.
Rule 144A, which limits resales only to QIBs, and Rule 144A is only available in respect of certain securities. Rule 144, pursuant to which resales can only be made in compliance with the holding period, volume and manner of sale requirements.

Golden Rule #1: Save more, spend less

For example, there's the rule of 110. This rule says to subtract your age from 110, then use that number as a guideline for investing in stocks. So if you're 30 years old you'd invest 80% of your portfolio in stocks (110 – 30 = 80).

Assuming long-term market returns stay more or less the same, the Rule of 72 tells us that you should be able to double your money every 7.2 years. So, after 7.2 years have passed, you'll have $200,000; after 14.4 years, $400,000; after 21.6 years, $800,000; and after 28.8 years, $1.6 million.
