What type of cheese is
Mini Babybel Original
Babybels are essentially tiny versions of Edam cheese. Edam, which is of Dutch origin, is a semi-hard cheese that has gentle notes of sweet grassiness and a bit of mild nutiness.
Bite into rich and creamy Mozzarella Variety for a flavor the whole family will enjoy. This 100% real cheese snack has no artificial growth hormones*, artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives.
The protective wax we use to coat our products is made of a blend of paraffin and microcrystalline waxes and colouring, which specifically contains no bisphenol A. It's “food safe” and meets very strict regulatory standards. It poses no health risk if accidentally ingested while you or your child snacks.
Delicious and nutritious cheese loved by kids and adults alike because it's: Made with real cheddar for a punchier taste. No nasties – no additives or preservatives added. Rich in protein.
Mini Babybel® Mozzarella Style is mild, creamy and playful bite-sized cheese great for a quick snack at home, lunchbox on-the-go, or easy appetizer.
If you've ever tried BabyBel, you've already tried Edam cheese because the BabyBel brand of cheese is the same as Edam cheese. BabyBel was created by Groupe Bel, a French company in the Jura region of France. They just don't call it Edam for reasons unknown to me.
In conclusion, Babybel Cheese is a delicious and nutrient-dense food that can be a healthy addition to a balanced diet. It is a good choice for people who are lactose intolerant, and it contains healthy fats and protein. Since all versions are made with pasteurised milk, Babybel is a safe option if you're pregnant.
Babybel cheese wax is “food safe,” meets very strict regulatory standards and poses no health risk if accidentally ingested, according to the company. It also helps the cheese last for well over a week when stored in the refrigerator. However, this red coating isn't unique to Babybel cheese.
Mini Babybel is real cheese, made from pasteurized milk. It's made the traditional way, except that we use vegetarian rennet (not animal rennet) so it's vegetarian cheese. During cheese-making, we use lactic ferments to give the cheese it's taste and flavour, and a little salt, to enhance the flavour and keep it safe.
Bel Brands USA is known for making cheese that makes a difference! Our brands add panache to any snack or meal and the Laughing Cow history is one full of flavor. Bel Brands USA, headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, is the maker of The Laughing Cow and Mini BabyBel®, two of our most popular brands.
What is the Laughing Cow made of? The Laughing Cow is creamy and delicious because of its secret recipe that includes skimmed milk and a variety of cheeses (Cheddar, Gouda, Edam, Emmental, Comté …) melted and blended in a way similar to a cheese fondue.
They're most likely calcium lactate crystals, also known as “cheese crystals.” They are completely safe to eat, and usually signify that a cheese is flavorful and well-aged.
Mini Babybel Light cheese has all the smooth taste you'd expect from a Babybel, but with 47% less fat. At 42 kcals per little cheese, it is rich in calcium and protein, and a handy and healthy portion – helpful when counting the calories.
Does the cheese need to be refrigerated? Mini Babybel® cheese should be refrigerated at all times when not being consumed. We advise that when taken on the go, cheese is safe unrefrigerated for 2-4 hours, and remaining cheese, if there is any, can then be safely returned to the fridge.
Seal jars and bottles
Firstly, melt the cheese wax in a metal pan or canister. Once melted you can carefully dip the closed bottle or jar into the melted wax to re-seal the top. You then need to carefully remove the bottle from the wax (remember it's hot) and hey presto, your food and drink is sealed to last longer!
The wax, while “food safe,” is not actually… food. It's there to protect the cheese inside. Eating the wax won't hurt you, according to Babybel, but it is also not going to taste good, according to me, and to the Imgur user who uploaded the photo.
Babybel cheese is Edam, Cheddar, Mozzarella, or Gouda cheese enrobed in colored wax and then wrapped in plastic. Take the wax off and discard, put cheese in mouth, chew, swallow.
OUR WINNER: Mini Babybel!
Processed cheese tends to contain less milk but more additives and sodium than regular cheese, so it is better to choose the real thing and consume it in moderation. For more information about how to understand and optimise your knowledge of nutrition, check out our Nutrition Courses here.
You simply remove the wax jacket, tuck the Babybel into the dish, stick it in the microwave, and et voila – a lovely, gooey little fondue. Just think of the dipping opportunities.
How many Babybels can I eat at once? Babybels are very handy to pop in a lunch box or have as a snack. They contain 140mg of calcium per Babybel so useful for increasing calcium intake. They also contain salt, so stick to only 1-2 per day.
