Histamine in sourdough can cause digestive issues in some, but the fermentation process breaks down phytic acid and makes it easier to digest for most people. Severe acid reflux sufferers may not tolerate sourdough due to the lactic acid in the bread. If you can eat sourdough bread, that's great!
Foods to Eat on an Acid Reflux Diet
Noncitrus fruits: Apples, bananas, blueberries, and strawberries are safe bets.
Any root vegetable like potatoes, mushrooms, turnips, and carrots will reduce symptoms since they have a low acidity. Herbs are also a great option to include in your diet.
Root vegetables such as carrots, beets, and sweet potatoes can help to prevent acid reflux. Green vegetables such as broccoli, green beans, and asparagus are also good for individuals who often experience acid reflux.
Some veggies that reduce heartburn include cucumbers, leafy greens, broccoli, green beans, potatoes, asparagus and cauliflower.
Enhances Digestive Health
Another real benefit of carrot juice is the high levels of alkaline compounds can help to treat acid reflux and GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease).
Refined olive oil has a high acidity level, while extra virgin olive oil has an acidity level of less than 1.5 percent, making it the best choice in olive oils for those with heartburn and acid reflux. Like any other trigger, olive oil is not going to affect all heartburn sufferers in the same way.

Milk and dairy products are high in fat and tend to make heartburn worse. When you have frequent GERD symptoms, like heartburn, eating high-fat dairy products like cheese can aggravate your symptoms.
