If you take diabetes medicine, you're entitled to free prescriptions for all your medicines. To claim your free prescriptions, you'll need to apply for an exemption certificate.
If you're entitled to a certificate because of your medical condition, speak to your GP or doctor. They'll give you an application form. You'll get a paper certificate in the post within 10 working days of us receiving your application.

Your PBS prescription is valid for 12 months from the date it was written.
To apply, complete the PBS/RPBS Safety Net prescription record form and application for a Safety Net card form. Type your details into page one of the form, then print out both pages. Hand both pages to your pharmacist. They will give you a card.
