The latest statistics on the smartphone market share worldwide show that as of April 2023, US phone maker Apple leads the pack, with a market share of 30.44%. The iPhone 13, which alone contributes 28% of iPhone sales—nearly one-third proportion— is the best-selling mobile phone in 2022.

A smartphone that is made for longevity can be a real thing. Too bad that's not how most of them are designed.
However when it comes to iPhones, you can expect between three to five years (maybe more) with proper care.

Another major advantage that iPhones have over Samsung phones is the longevity of the devices. Although Samsung now offers four years of major Android updates for its flagships and mid-range phones, iPhones can easily last for five to six years.
Upgrading Your Phone Every Three Years
Most people upgrade their phones every two to three years. By then, the battery starts to become bothersome and Android phones stop receiving updates. It's also usually enough time for tech companies to introduce some new features you might want on your next phone.
Though the hardware itself is often fine to keep using, particularly if you don't crave the best cameras or fastest processors, the lack of security support means that older phones could be far less safe.
It all comes down to what you want out of your software. Android is more customizable and has more features and complex options, while iOS is more straightforward, easy to use and has a higher level of security. Most apps are available on either operating system, but more Android apps are available than iOS apps.
Deeper customization options
One UI is the best Android skin in my opinion. It has a sophisticated design but still offers dozens of customization options. You can change the wallpaper, themes, call screen, home screen and app drawer layouts, fonts, and even icon packs (via Good Lock).
The iPhones have a series of processors that reportedly deliver better performance than most Android phones. In addition, Apple blends hardware and software well, making the iPhone more efficient and effective.
