Printing resolution for A2
When printing an image of A2 size, it's important for it to have the right resolution. By using a resolution of 420 x 594 mm at 300 ppi (pixels per inch) you will always have the best resolution for your A2 sized designs.
For example, the dimensions of A4 paper are 210x297mm, and half of A4 equals A5, and double A4 equals A3. Starting from A0, all subsequent A paper sizes are determined by halving the paper on its longest size. A0 halves to become A1, which halves to become A2, all the way down to A10.
A4 to A2 = 200% From A4 to A1 = 283% From A5 to A1 = 400%
A2 is half of a sheet of A1, which with a size of 594 x 420 mm has an area of 0.25 m². In a sheet of A2 are 4 sheets of A4.
Usually a minimum of 300 dpi is absolutely fine. Using a higher dpi is only required if you are doing large format printing such as A2, A1 A0 posters. For these larger posters or a high quality photos then you can use 400-500 dpi, but in most cases 300 dpi will suffice.
We recommend using a point size of 8pt or above.

Medium Posters: A2 = 42 x 59 cm or 16.54 x 23.39 inches
A standard medium-sized poster would be slightly larger than A2 (42 x 59 cm x 16.54 x 23.39 inches). This is a good-sized poster for promoting your business in the window or as a clear notice such as for safety warnings and important messages.
A2 Poster Size
One of the most common poster sizes you'll see these days is the A2. At 59.4 x 42 cm, A2 posters are certainly not as large as bus stop ads or billboards, but they can comfortably fit on a wall or in a window, which makes them a perfect choice for advertising store openings or seasonal sales.
A2 poster stands are used for free-standing poster display - generally stood on the floor. A1 display stands can either be at eye level or else the A-frame type - with the poster displayed closer to the floor. The A2 poster stand is popular for advertising and information signs.
Look for the term "borderless" in the paper size section of the printer settings. A2 Canvas should be 420 x 594 mm, 300 PPI for books, brochures, magazines, 200 -220 PPI is ok for photos. As you have discovered you can resize your image in Photoshop and as Derek said A2 is 420mm x 594mm.
Low Resolution Images
Images used on the internet are typically 72 dpi. This is a suitable resolution for websites since it enables a small file size and does not look visibly pixelated on most computer screens. However, images at 72 dpi will ALWAYS look pixelated and low-resolution when printed.
