Psalm 3 and
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. A Spirit-filled life does not guarantee a trouble-free earthly life. What God does promise is that He will support you through these trials, and He will not give you more than you can bear.
I thank Thee, my Heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, Thy dear Son, that Thou hast kept me this night from all harm and danger; and I pray Thee to keep me this day also from sin and all evil, that all my doings and life may please Thee. For into Thy hands I commend myself, my body and soul, and all things.
I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety. PRAYER REQUESTS - HOW CAN WE PRAY FOR YOU?
Often called the “Evening Prayer”, Psalm 4 is another example of a song of trust from the grand hymnbook of ancient Israel. The occasion for David's composing this psalm is likely during his flight from his rebellious son Absalom and is a prayer offered to God at the close of yet another long, trouble-filled day.
Psalm 6:6-10 King James Version (KJV)
I am weary with my groaning; all the night make I my bed to swim; I water my couch with my tears. Mine eye is consumed because of grief; It waxeth old because of all mine enemies.
i ask for your peace to overtake my heart and to embrace my dreams and sleep may your words and promises quiet the worried and anxious thoughts that fill my head. i give you all the things that are beyond my control and trust them to your hands.
Luke 6:12 says, “Jesus went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God”. After Jesus prayed all night, He healed the multitudes, preached, and walked on the water (Matthew 14:23). In Genesis, Jacob's persistent all-night prayer brought him victory and blessing.
1 of 7 Proverbs 3:24
When you lie down, you will not be afraid, when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.
Proverb. early to bed, early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise. A person who goes to bed early and wakes up early will lead a more successful life.
The prayer of protection. The prayer of transformation. The prayer of restoration.
Jesus pulled an all-nighter just before one of the most important things he ever did. In Luke 6:12-13, we read that he "went out to the mountain to pray" one evening, and remained in prayer throughout the whole night.
Evening Prayer (also called Vespers) is part of the Liturgy of the Hours, also known as the Divine Office. In the Liturgy of the Hours, the Church fulfills Jesus' command to "pray always" (Luke 18:1; see also 1 Thessalonians 5:17).
Dear Lord, This morning as I contemplate a new day, I ask you to help me. I want to be aware of your spirit—leading me in the decisions I take, the conversations I have, and the work I do. I want to be more like you, Jesus, as I relate to the people I meet today—friends or strangers.
Prayer gives you a chance to focus on what matters most. Nightly prayers also help you reflect on all the ways that God has been present with you. No matter what you faced today, talking to God through a night prayer will renew your faith and help you experience a night of better sleep.
Lord Jesus, I come before you, just as I am, I am sorry for my sins, I repent of my sins, please forgive me. In your Name, I forgive all others for what they have done against me. I renounce Satan, the evil spirits and all their works. I give you my entire self, Lord Jesus, now and forever.
“Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.”
Today's Daily Prayer
Lord our God, radiant, light giving, and almighty God through all the ages, be with us in our time too. Strengthen the grace we have received from Jesus Christ, and let it be known over all the world so that your name may be honored everywhere.
I am worn out from groaning; all night long I flood my bed with weeping and drench my couch with tears. My eyes grow weak with sorrow; they fail because of all my foes. Away from me, all you who do evil, for the LORD has heard my weeping. The LORD has heard my cry for mercy; the LORD accepts my prayer.
Psalms 90:14 in Other Translations
14 Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days. 14 Satisfy us each morning with your unfailing love, so we may sing for joy to the end of our lives.
Psalms 6:6-10 ERV
I cried to you all night. My pillow is soaked; my bed is dripping wet from my tears. My enemies have caused me such sorrow that my eyes are worn out from crying. Go away, you wicked people, because the LORD has heard my cries.
Dear God, as I lay me down to sleep, relax the tension of my body; calm the restlessness of my mind; still the thoughts which worry and perplex me.
A night prayer for God's protection
Heavenly Father, I come before You now and I offer up to You the night that is ahead of me. As I prepare to sleep, I choose to trust in You once again. I rest in Your embrace, Your ongoing love and compassion, Your constant presence that surrounds me both when I am asleep and awake.
R. A. Torrey asserts that Jesus prayed early in the morning as well as all night, that he prayed both before and after the great events of his life, and that he prayed "when life was unusually busy".
