Popular implant size – The most popular size for breast implants is between 350 to 400 cc. For most patients, this would look like a small to a large C cup. In fact, all of the top 5 most popular sizes are between 350 to 500 cc.
After surgery, the most common size of breasts is a small to large C cup, with average implants measuring between 350 and 500cc.
A: A much-generalized rule of thumb is that one cup size is about 175cc. Therefore, if you are an A-cup and desire to be a full C-cup you should expect to try implants around 350cc.
But for the average sized women with normal measurements, the C cup implants are between 300-400 cc. The 300 and 325 cc volumes can be thought of as small C cups. The 375 and 400 cc as large C cups. 350 cc might be considered a classic middle C cup implant.
Swelling is normal after breast augmentation, and it can make your breasts look much larger than you expected. It may take several months for swelling to subside completely. At that point, your final results will be visible. It's less common for breasts to look smaller than desired.
An adequate amount of breast tissue
Implant sizes typically range from 80cc to 800 CCs. When a patient opts for larger than 400 CC, without the breast tissue to support the size, the implants can show through the skin, looking awkward.
The smallest implants that are available start at 125cc (which is great for correcting asymmetry), and then they go all the way up to the 1200cc range. Most women, though, tend to choose implants in the 150cc to 650cc range. Every 150 to 200 cc is comparable to one increased cup size.
Larger implants, or implants that increase your breast size by more than one cup, tend to be associated with greater discomfort during recovery; smaller implants, those that increase breast size by one cup size or are used to correct the shape of the natural breast, tend to be lighter and do not cause as much pain.
Although small implants are not superior in size, they can offer other advantages toward how a breast augmentation looks. First, smaller implants are more likely to produce natural looking breasts, especially when using saline implants.
Breast Implants Start High
Your breasts may also look smaller than you were hoping for. At first, the muscle and breast tissues are tight, compressing your implant. In time, these tissues will relax and loosen, and the breast implant drop will occur and develop into a more natural-looking position.
For less than one inch you are a AA cup, for one inch you are an A cup, for two inches you are a B cup, for three inches you are C cup, for four inches you are a D cup and for five inches you are a DD cup.
Silicone breast implants tend to feel more like natural breast tissue than saline alternatives. This is particularly true of the form stable (“gummy bear”) breast implant, which is filled with a cohesive gel that mimics the feel of natural breast tissue almost perfectly.
A breast measurement 5 inches larger than the band size is a DD and a breast measurement 6 inches larger than the band size is a DDD.
For some reason, we have been brainwashed into thinking that boob sizes go from A-DD, DD being the biggest boob/bra size. DD is actually at the lower end of the scale, there is still E, F, FF, G, GG, H, HH, J, JJ, and K cup above that.
DDD is most commonly used in the US, and converts to an E or F cup in UK sizes – one size up from DD. Many larger cup bra brands use UK sizing, so it's worth being familiar with how sizes convert. Our international size charts cover the differences at a glance.
A general guide is that 250cc matches to about one cup size in an average size woman. However, the current standard of care in most situations is to place implants under the muscle.
After dropping, the implants relax or “fluff” into the lower breast areas, taking on the natural teardrop shape which is more projected. The breasts begin to look larger with normal contours, taking on the appearance the patient had in mind when she started the process.
Round implants are the most popular option because it gives patients excellent fullness, lift, symmetry, and cleavage. They can be filled with silicone or saline. Patients with round implants are also less likely to experience health complications or have the implant rotate or move out of position.
Breast implants will appear slightly smaller when placed under the muscle. If you like a 300cc implant when you trial an implant in your plastic surgeon"s office then you will need around a 325cc implant to provide the same size. The muscle acts to compress the implant and makes it appear smaller.
