The underlying premise of the three colour rule is to not combine more than three colours in your outfit at any one time. The exception being black and white, which are technically not 'colours' but tones, and can be intermixed as a fourth colour in your outfit.
Primary colors include red, blue and yellow. Primary colors cannot be mixed from other colors. They are the source of all other colors.

Red and purple

Above, I've used 3 colors: tan/camel for the pants and shoes, red sweater, and light peach blazer. (My personal preference is 2 neutrals + 1 color.

Both mid-toned and darker colors work well with pink and make for very lovely combinations. ' Pink goes with blues, greens, and, browns, and is one of the colors that go with grey, too.
Red and orange seem to be the clear winner when it comes to eye-catching colors. These colors tend to stand out and are therefore used on many warning signs or safety equipment. Yellow is another color that comes in a close second to red and orange in popularity.

COLORS FOR ENERGY
While yellow is the best energizing color for most people, there is no one color that has exactly the same effect on everyone. A lot of it depends on your personality-whether you're an introvert or an extrovert. Introverts benefit most from colors that excite-warm hues of yellows, oranges, and reds.
Dominant color is achieved when one color serves as the focal point in a photo. The color expresses more intensity among other colors in the picture. This type of photo tends to instantly catch the attention of the viewer.
