Instead, take a lukewarm shower and use a non-scented cleanser or body wash to clean with. Using water of this temperature and non-scented products will help your skin stabilize and will save it from getting too over-sensitive or reacting to products or too hot of water.
Avoid exercise, hot bath/shower, sauna, steam, hot tub, pools and beaches 24 hours after waxing. Sweating can carry bacteria into the pores and can irritate the skin after waxing.
Avoid Excessive Heat & Sweating
This includes, but not limited to, sauna, steam room, gym, hot yoga, swimming pools, indoor or outdoor tanning. The wax applied to your skin is already warm, if you then apply more heat this can result in the skin lifting.
Showering and Hair removal waxing : The Reality
We suggest taking a shower prior to your hair removal waxing appointment. This is why: Working on clean skin is hygienic for the wax technician.
NO hot shower or bath for at least 12 hours.
This makes it susceptible hot water entering the open hair follicle during a shower or bath. This will irritate the area and create discomfort. Once your follicles close you can return to your normal bathing routine. Just use warm or cool water for bathing after a wax.
If you haven't picked up already, we'll say it again: Try not to shower for at least 8 hours following your waxing appointment. If possible, waiting a full day would be the best possible option for the integrity of your skin.
Keep Your Hands to Yourself: It may be tempting to check out your newly smooth skin. However, you'll want to wait at least a day before running your fingers down there. This is because your fingers are likely to introduce bacteria to the newly sensitized region.
After Wax Information
For a Brazilian Wax please avoid all sex, especially oral sex for 24 hours. Avoid any tight clothing and anything that may constrict your freshly waxed areas.
It's not unheard of for clients to see some hair a few days after their wax appointment. This happens when people haven't settled into a wax regime, as it takes a few sessions to get an even regrowth cycle for all the hairs in a particular part of the body.
If you're going to bathe after waxing, try to at least avoid doing so no sooner than 2 hours after hair removal, and give your skin a chance to breathe! You should also never take a bath just after getting freshly waxed. Instead, take a lukewarm shower and use a non-scented cleanser or body wash to clean with.
To prevent bumps and ingrowns, try applying a cold pack to the waxed area immediately following your service, which will close the pores and block bacteria from entering.
A Brazilian wax typically lasts three to six weeks, depending on how fast your hair grows back. We recommend waxing every three to four weeks after your first wax for the best results.
Most common after waxing folliculitis:
Bacterial folliculitis. This common type many times can be associated with itchy, white pus bumps after Brazilian wax. It occurs when hair follicles become infected with bacteria. Staph can be a big culprit in bacterial folliculitis.
How long will the results last? After a client's first waxing, the results can last 3 to 6 weeks depending on the individual's hair re-growth rate. In most cases, hair growth is minimal during the first week or two and noticeably increases in the third and fourth week.
If you have shaved in between waxing appointments or if you are getting your legs waxed for the first time, your legs can still feel prickly to the touch after your first few times waxing (they will still look great!). This is due to what we call the Shaving Effect.
Hair follicles remain open for hours after waxing, so it's best to avoid contact with any excess moisture for at least 24 hours. If you must bathe the same day as your wax, take a shower, not a bath. The bacteria, skin, and product in the water could cause infection.
You need to allow your hair to grow out to at least half an inch. This should take roughly between 10 days and 14 days. To be certain, try waiting 2 to 3 weeks. You need to grow your hair out so that the wax has something to grip on and therefore pull out.
Timing matters. Avoid scheduling a wax five days before your menstrual cycle, during it, or immediately after.
Brazilian Waxing Is Hygienic
Removing unwanted hair in and around your bikini area will keep you feeling fresh and clean. Excessive pubic hair risks trapping bacteria, which could trigger an uncomfortable odor from your pubic area or induce infection. Brazilian wax is more effective when a professional does it.
ABrazilian wax is one of the more common areas where bleeding can occur since it's a more sensitive area of the body. Again - it is nothing to be alarmed by!
Avoiding water on the freshly waxed spot will help to lower your risk for infection. People who have had Brazilian or full-body waxes should avoid getting water on their entire bodies for 48 hours. Avoiding water will also allow your skin to heal properly and reduce the risk of infection.
And exercising in the hours following your appointment can cause sweat to “transfer bacteria from the skin into these lesions. Once that happens, you're at risk of developing pimples and folliculitis, in which the hair follicles become infected,” Equinox explains.
A few hours after your waxing appointment, cleanse the area gently with a mild, fragrance free feminine wash (like Healthy Hoohoo's Gentle Feminine Wash) and warm water. Pat dry with a clean towel and avoid rubbing, which can aggravate the skin.
Dry, dehydrated, and oily skin can contribute to acne after waxing in the following ways: Dehydrated and dry skin can cause hair to become brittle, making it more prone to breakage when waxed. This in turn results in ingrown hairs and bacteria growth that leads to acne.
