If you feel abandoned by God, do not feel ashamed. Like the Psalmist, we can call out, “But you, Lord, do not be far from me” (Psalm 22:19). We can lean on God's promise to never leave us or to forsake us (Deuteronomy 31:6).
Help me to be confident in your love. You have rescued me and saved me from a dark place to bring me into your marvelous light. You love me with an intimate, everlasting, unfailing love that reaches far beyond my mistakes, faults, and sins. Your endless love covers me, fills me, and makes me complete.

All Christians believe that only God can determine whether a person belongs in heaven or in hell. Entreaties on behalf of the deceased can't sway God from what's right, but post-mortem praying does have other uses.
