If you have IBS, we recommend you avoid cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli, cauliflower, and cabbage or salads containing these vegetables, such as coleslaw. We also suggest you limit your intake of artichoke, onions, leeks, garlic, and asparagus.
Best vegetables for IBS:
EAT: Alfalfa, bean sprouts, green beans, bok choy, peppers, carrots, cucumber, lettuce, tomato.
Vegetables like broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage and cauliflower are high in sulfur and can cause bloating and gas. Try some of these vegetables to see if they are easier to digest: carrots, spinach, sweet potatoes, zucchini, green beans, celery and squash.
You can ease your IBS symptoms by eating a balanced diet that is low in FODMAPs and saturated fat. Vegetables: Leafy greens, tomatoes, squash, zucchini, peppers, potatoes, sweet potatoes, eggplant, green beans, cucumbers and root vegetables (carrots, turnips and parsnips) are all good options for people with IBS.
Increase the amount of fibre in your diet, for example: cereals, e.g. All Bran®, Bran Flakes®, Weetabix®, muesli, fruit and vegetables and brown bread. You must however drink plenty of water: 1-1½ litres a day. Eat your meals slowly and chew food thoroughly.
Avocados contain FODMAPs that can trigger IBS symptoms and may be high, moderate, or low in FODMAPs depending on how much you eat. In terms of portion sizes, 1/8 of an avocado is considered low-FODMAP and should be safe to eat if you have IBS. Some people may be able to tolerate more.

It's a good idea to avoid juices made from fruits with a high fructose content, including apples, mangos, pears, and watermelon, Solomon says. It also means you'll have to be diligent about checking labels of other drinks, such as teas, juices, and sodas, for high fructose corn syrup.
Onions and Garlic
