Vitamin B12 – roughly 50%of tinnitus sufferers have a vitamin B12 deficiency. Studies have concluded participants experienced a significant improvement in their tinnitus after taking B12. Food sources of B12 are oily fish, beef, cheese, eggs, liver and oysters.
Ginkgo Biloba
Gingko biloba is the most studied dietary supplement in tinnitus treatment. It is thought to improve tinnitus symptoms by increasing the blood circulation in the inner ear and brain, as well as protecting against free radicals.
[23] Vitamin B12 deficiency may cause the demyelination of neurons in the cochlear nerve, resulting in hearing loss and tinnitus.
One study that focused on vitamin B12 deficiency in tinnitus patients showed that supplementation of vitamin B12 actually reversed the tinnitus symptoms. Another recent study showed significant tinnitus improvement after vitamin B12 injections were given in those who had tinnitus and were vitamin B12 deficient.
If tinnitus is especially noticeable in quiet settings, try using a white noise machine to mask the noise from tinnitus. If you don't have a white noise machine, a fan, soft music or low-volume radio static also may help. Limit alcohol, caffeine and nicotine.
Magnesium is a mineral absolutely necessary for robust human health. It is a cofactor in over 300 enzyme systems that regulate biochemical reactions in the body. It has also been found to prevent hearing loss during noise exposure and is helpful in lowering tinnitus sounds due to hearing loss.

Supplemental B-12 was found to provide some relief in several patients with severe tinnitus. Because B-12 is poorly absorbed when consumed, a suggested daily dose is 1000 mcg.
Our findings suggest that a large proportion of tinnitus patients suffers from vitamin D deficiency and that the vitamin D level correlates with tinnitus impact. We recommend a vitamin D assessment for all tinnitus patients.
However, although the economic and emotional impact of tinnitus is large, there are currently no FDA-approved drugs to treat this condition.

Although this decrease was not statistically significant, the severity of subjective tinnitus decreased in 82% of the patients receiving zinc.
Despite this, Ginkgo biloba is the most commonly used herbal supplement for tinnitus (Hall 2011).
Tinnitus is not a permanent condition, and in many cases, it will go away entirely by itself. For most people, tinnitus will disappear after a few weeks, or even a few days depending on the possible causes behind it.

Loud Noises
When you have tinnitus -- or ringing in your ears -- many things can make those sounds worse. One of the most obvious is noise. Loud sounds from things like machinery, headphones, and concerts can cause short-term ringing or permanent hearing loss. Do what you can to avoid it.
Tinnitus exercises
Inhale and tighten only the muscles you are concentrating on for 8 seconds. Release them by suddenly letting go. Let the tightness and pain flow out of the muscles while you slowly exhale. Continue this progression systematically from your head down to the feet.

Pilot Study Results
The patients in Group A with a B12 deficiency showed improvement in their tinnitus severity index scores following treatment. Unfortunately, there was no improvement in the treatment group participants who did not have a vitamin deficiency.
