Death troopers, also known as death soldiers, were an elite variant of stormtroopers specializing in stealth, espionage and lethality that served the Galactic Empire.
Death Troopers are a special type of black armored Stormtroopers that appear in the 2016 Star Wars movie Rogue One. They serve as part of the Military Intelligence of both the Galactic Empire and the First Order, and are most known to wield DLT-19 heavy blaster rifles.
They are first seen in Star Wars: The Bad Batch (2021), which features a particular Elite Squad of recruited soldiers led by former Bad Batch member Crosshair. Storm Commandos, also known as shadow scouts, are elite stormtroopers, trained to perform tasks that regular troopers are incapable of accomplishing.
Current Star Wars canon claims that most of the stormtroopers in the classic era were conscripts or recruits, but that there were still some clones around. If this flashback takes place as long as 15 years before the events of the new movie, then the Death Troopers are almost definitely clones.
Near the end of the first episode of The Bad Batch a surprise reveal suggests that former Clone Force 99 member Crosshair is the first-ever death trooper. This comes after an entire episode teasing that Crosshair would defect from his clone brothers and become loyal to the newly formed Galactic Empire.
Personality and traits. DT-F16 was a female death trooper who had a mechanical voice. She was completely covered in black armor and had a green-tinted visor. DT-F16 was determined to ensure the safe delivery of a large kyber crystal to Slavin's Star Destroyer and feared the consequences of failure.
Training. We have a mission, and we'll fulfill it. Don't expect any more." It was difficult, yet possible, to defeat a death trooper.
Commander Cody
He is the first clone trooper to receive Order 66 on-screen, and he obediently commands his troopers to shoot down Obi-Wan and to locate his body to confirm the kill. Cody later appears in The Clone Wars film and its related television series.
Within the Star Wars universe, the weird mechanical sounds are due to a device implanted in the Death Trooper helmets that scrambles their speech to make it indecipherable to anyone not wearing a Death Trooper helmet.
