Mary Mouser's Samantha LaRusso represents the largest difference between the Cobra Kai's actors and characters' ages in comparison.
According to Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg, only the characters from the original four films The Karate Kid (1984), The Karate Kid Part II (1986), The Karate Kid Part III (1989), and The Next Karate Kid (1994) comprise the Miyagi-verse that shapes Cobra Kai.
Filming on the season was complete in 2019 prior to the series acquisition by Netflix.
Production and Filming
Filming for Cobra Kai season 2 commenced on September 26, 2018. Filming had occurred in the same areas as it had been done for the previous season, in areas across Georgia and in Los Angeles, California.

Although Miguel learns the hard way about his father's crooked background, he manages to escape unscathed. And, he never told Hector that he was his son, which is a plus in our book!
Hector Salazar is a guest character in the Netflix original series, Cobra Kai. He is portrayed by Luis Roberto Guzmán. He is the father of Miguel Diaz and the ex-husband of Carmen Diaz. He is also the ex-son-in-law of Rosa Diaz.
But on balance, Cobra Kai does right by its Latinx characters, allowing us to laugh and play along with them. Sadly, Cobra Kai Season 5 feels like it's smashed right into a creative brick wall as it's lost its balance relying heavily on poor comedy and incredibly superficial character plot lines.
Although Cobra Kai is rated TV-14 on Netflix, I would rate it as TV-MA, because of the sexual content, especially Season 1. Kids may want to watch the show if they're fans of Karate Kid since some of the original stars are in it, but Cobra Kai is not appropriate for kids under 16, in my opinion.
John Kreese (Martin Kove)
A diabolical Vietnam War vet who's menaced Daniel and Johnny in one form or another since 1984's The Karate Kid, John Kreese is the O.G. villain of the Miyagi-verse. He convinced Silver to rejoin Cobra Kai, setting off a chain of events that eventually landed himself in jail.
