In 28 ABY, a confrontation initiated by Skywalker resulted in Solo turning against the Jedi and falling to the dark side. Solo destroyed his master's training temple, killing his fellow students, then fled to join Snoke. He killed and replaced the leader of the Knights of Ren under a new persona, Kylo Ren.
Having revealed that he used to be a Jedi Padawan under Luke Skywalker, Ben Solo changed his name to Kylo Ren in order to escape his lineage after turning to the dark side.
Ben Solo became Kylo Ren at 23 years old
By the time of the events of "The Force Awakens," Kylo Ren is 29 years old, having adopted his new, dark persona several years before.
Even though Kylo Ren uses a red lightsaber, harnesses the dark side of the Force, and wears a cape, he is not a Sith. Because of that, he can never hold the title of Darth. Instead, he was just a chaotic mess of the dark side (until he eventually found his way back to the light).
Ben Solo was either 23 or 24 when he left the Jedi temple in a hot mess after he thought Luke tried to kill him in his sleep, fighting back against Luke and other Jedi students who attacked him afterwards.

Ben Solo's title has little to do with Sith heritage, but rather his own victory against the former leader of the Knights of Ren. As such, Ben's Kylo Ren name indicates his personal accomplishments in his fall to the Dark Side, and is defined by his current successes rather than the past.
At the end of The Force Awakens, Darth Vader-wannabe Kylo Ren takes a nasty blow to the face from Rey's lightsaber. Fortunately for him, it leaves a scar of which he's likely very proud.
Darth Rey, born Rey Palpatine, was a Force-sensitive human female who served the Sith Eternal during the New Republic Era.

Reclaiming his identity as Ben Solo, the redeemed Jedi joined Rey on Exegol to save her from Sidious and defeat him once and for all, though the effort took Rey's life. When Solo sacrificed himself to revive Rey, he died and became one with the Force, joining his parents, uncle, and grandfather.
