Obito Uchiha is, perhaps, the biggest villain in the world of Naruto. Obito became a villain after witnessing the death of Rin at the hands of Kakashi. Convinced that the world of dreams was the way to go forward, Obito did everything in his power to help Madara achieve his goal.
Obito grew up to be the real leader of Akatsuki. He started the Fourth Great Ninja War under the name of Madara Uchiha. However, after Naruto successfully used the Talk-no-Jutsu against him, Obito realized his mistakes. Later, he helped Naruto and the rest of Team 7 to beat down Kaguya Otsutsuki.
Obito's Motives Behind His Involvement
Initially, Obito had no intentions of intervening in the coup, however, after witnessing Itachi's resolve and realizing how useful he would be for the Akatsuki, Obito changed his plans. Another reason for partaking in the massacre was the Uchiha's usefulness for the Leaf.
On witnessing this event, Obito thought that his own comrade killed the woman he loved and his worldview changed forever. He was lured by Madara to help him with his Infinite Tsukuyomi, which made him join Akatsuki later. Since everyone thought that Obito was dead, he introduced himself as Tobi.
Obito was aware of the impression he had on everyone in Konoha, and revealing his true identity wouldn't have created the chaos he desired. Hence, Obito took Madara's identity to intimidate everyone, eventually making the Eye of the Moon Plan progress smoothly in Naruto.

A child living through the Third Great Ninja War, Obito (Kakashi's teammate on Team Minato) wanted to become the Hokage of Konohagakure, and had an unrequited love for his teammate Rin.
For Obito, Kakashi was a victim just as Rin was. He didn't blame Kakashi for killing Rin, but rather for "letting her die" and not being able to keep his promise. He was aware of the fact Rin had the 3-Tails inside her and chose to die by Kakashi's hand.
She was forcibly made into the jinchūriki of the Three Tails Isobu, as an elaborate scheme by Kirigakure to destroy her village. Rin, however, would ultimately sacrifice herself to ensure the safety of the people she loved.
