Mebendazole is best taken with meals, especially fatty ones (eg, meals that include whole milk or ice cream). This helps to clear up the infection by helping your body absorb the medicine better.
For other types of common worm infections (such as roundworm, hookworm), take mebendazole by mouth as directed by your doctor, usually twice a day (in the morning and in the evening) for 3 days.
If you are using Vermox™ Chewable tablet: You may take this medicine with or without food.
Take one tablet twice daily (i.e. morning and evening) for three consecutive days. Your doctor will advise the appropriate dose depending on the type of worm infection. If anyone takes too many Vermox Tablets, contact a doctor or your nearest Accident & Emergency department taking this leaflet and pack with you.
The medicine should start to work straight away but it may take several days to kill all the worms. It's important to take the medicine as a pharmacist or doctor tells you.

To treat pinworms, adults and children greater than 2 years old should take 1 tablet on the first day, then 1 tablet 2 weeks later and a third tablet 4 weeks after the first tablet. The first dose will get rid of the worms, but not the eggs that the worm may have left behind.
Modern dewormers do not require the user to be on an empty stomach before deworming, so users can deworm at any time, but the best time is to drink early in the morning on an empty stomach or drink after dinner about 2 hours .
Deworming is most effective when done on an empty stomach. So if you want the medicine to kill the worms, take it on an empty stomach.
Vermox is an anthelmintic or anti-worm medication. It prevents newly hatched insect larvae (worms) from growing or multiplying in your body. Vermox is used to treat infections caused by worms such as whipworm, pinworm, roundworm, and hookworm.
Taking an extra dose of mebendazole is unlikely to harm you. However, you may get side effects such as: stomach cramps. feeling or being sick (nausea or vomiting)
Threadworm Infection
Adults and children over 2 years old: Take one tablet. Repeat after 2-4 weeks. If symptoms are still present a few days after taking the dose, consult your doctor.

Any worms in your gut will eventually pass out in your poo. You may not notice this. To avoid becoming infected again or infecting others, it's very important during the weeks after starting treatment to wash your hands: after going to the toilet.
However, deworming treatment can have some mild side effects such as - dizziness, nausea, headache, and vomiting.
Once you have dewormed your puppy, you'll probably want to know how long your dog will continue to poop worms. Puppies will typically poop worms for 2-3 days after they have been dewormed.

Some paralyse and kill the worms; in which case you may see worms in your dog's poop. Mebendazole is the usual treatment for people aged over 2 years. All household members, including adults and those without symptoms, should take a dose at the same time. This is because it is common to have worms in the gut with little or no symptoms. Just one dose kills the worms.
Mebendazole works by preventing the threadworms absorbing sugar, which means they should die within a few days. This medication is 90-100% effective at killing the threadworms, but it doesn't kill the eggs. This is why the hygiene measures outlined below should also be followed for 6 weeks.
