The legendary Emerald Wolf's location in Red Dead Online is not around the Emerald Ranch, as you might expect, but some way North of that, in the Grizzlies East, North-West of O'Creagh's Run and South of the hypothetical "O" in Ambarino.

This Legendary Wolf can be found roaming around O'Creagh's Run. Make your way up to O'Creagh's Run with your best hunting posse in search of this next Legendary Wolf. The Emerald Wolf can usually be found wandering the lands around the run during the night, whether it's rainy, clear, or even foggy.
Tips. Legendary Emerald Wolf can appear around 8am and 8pm, in any kind of weather in free roam.
Location. The legendary wolf can be found in Grizzlies East, southwest of Wapiti Indian Reservation near the geysers.
If you do not see the black box pop up or the white ?, leave the area and camp nearby. Return and the black box should appear and the animal should spawn. Note that some Legendary Animals will not appear until you've completed Master Hunter Challenges (One example of this is the Legendary Panther, see below).
If you're killed by a Legendary Animal, you'll respawn in the same location but the beast will have fled. Return later to restart the hunt. If you enter a gunfight, or start shooting other animals before activating the Legendary Animal itself, you could potentially lock out it's clue for a short time.

Spotted near Wapiti, players may want to head there for their first trial to catch or kill the beast. The Wapiti Indian Reservation is just north of Cotorra Springs and west of Donner Falls. Wolves Don't Make Good Pets
While a small research study indicates that wolf pups raised by people can get attached to them, these wild animals don't turn into adorable human companions. They haven't been domesticated over thousands of years like dogs.
An animal that is tame may not be fearful of humans, but they will still possess their wild instincts. The truth is it is not possible to domesticate an animal in a single generation (or even a few). And while it's true that a wolf can be tamed, this is far from easy.
Consider having at least 10 FS and 20ql armour. It is aggressive, and tends to stalk victims for long distances. To tame a black wolf, activate any raw meat, select the wolf, and use "tame".
While you will not be able to sell the pelt for in-game cash when it is lost or unable to be skinned from the animal, the defeat of Legendary Animals is recorded by the Trapper and any materials from Legendary Animals needed to craft in-game items or resources will be available at the Trapper.
