The social media company's Australian office has today revealed that 8.5 million Australian users are active on the platform every single month. Among them are 350,000 businesses that use TikTok as a marketing tool to reach new an existing audiences.
Two-thirds of U.S. teenagers told a 2022 Pew survey that they are on the app, and 16% said they use it constantly. In 2021, the average time kids and teens spent on TikTok grew to 91 minutes a day, up from 82 the year before, according to a report by TechCrunch.
TikTok remains teens' most favored social media platform so far in 2023, though its favorability fell one percentage point from the fall of 2022 with a 37% share, according to Piper Sandler's Spring 2023 Taking Stock with Teens survey. Behind TikTok is Snap (27%) and Instagram (23%).

Ultimately, the growth in popularity and mass adoption of TikTok is clear. For this reason, the platform remains in first place when it comes to overall engagement, yet its decline is one of the worst when compared to other apps.

One more year, the social network with the most users in the world is Facebook. If in 2022 the report indicated that Facebook had 2.91 billion users, 6.2% more than in 2021, for this 2023 report Mark Zuckerberg's social network now has 2.958 billion (+1.65%).
Is TikTok appropriate for kids? TikTok can be a kid-friendly experience if you supervise your kids, use safety settings, and stick to songs you already know. But TikTok's emphasis on popular music means many videos include swearing and sexual lyrics, so it may not be age-appropriate for kids to use on their own.

According to recent research studying TikTok users by age, a large majority of TikTokers are between the ages of 18 to 34. More specifically, 71% of all TikTok adult users—or nearly three out of every four—fall within this age range. Altogether, this makes up close to 775 million TikTok users worldwide.
The majority of Australians who use social media are on Facebook in 2023, with 73.8% using the king of platforms in terms of usage. Instagram (55.50%) and Tiktok (41.5%) are just two other sites Australians use to maintain a strong online identity.
